it's so weird, that it`s utterly amazing.
and i think the song went well with this plot and style. Otherwise no it`s a horrible song lol

Ummm... the music was horrible.
But I loved the animation and the story was good as well.

I wouldn't say it`s a modern take nor a "Where are they now?" version. It seems to be like the writer wanted to take a different route with the story. Evidently Gretel missed her brother, Hanzel, and had to lure him back to an old tree to remind him of their previous relationship.

Maybe it`s based on a different version of the tale? Brothers Grimm perhaps? I don`t know much about the darker side of fairy tales.
