I actually know how this works , lol. The "nut" is actually a magnet, the pipe is copper, a non-ferrous metal, so it wont be attracted to, or by the magnet. However, copper, when in the presence of a moving magnetic field will generate an electrical current, or in this case, an opposing magnetic field, slowing the descent of the magnet through the pipe. Kids, try this at home.
