It doesn't matter if the guy deserved it or not. There is a reason we have trials. Police are supposed to apprehend suspects using no more violence than is necessary.

You`re right, they are the police and I expect them to be held to a higher standard, which I define for them as a citizen of my municipality. And I expect them to kick the douche in the head.

Cops are supposed to be able to control themselves, and not attack people who have submitted themselves peacefully to be taken into custody. The criminal will pay for his running from police and putting the public at risk in court. It's not the policeman`s job to punish the man.
