It isn't a doomsday theory because its a electrical storm which will knock out the power, not explode the sun and, if the power globally went out it would end up killing some of the people who do depend on electricy.
It wont kill off everyone but it might be some kind of wake up call.

lets face it, with this the new flu and every other dooms day theroy that has a high chance of actually happening we may as well just kick the bucket right now
