Tesla's great if you have $100k to spend on a car that *also* only seats two people and has limited luggage space, but it`s absurdly out of reach for most people. I know dozens of people who can afford a $25k car, I know maybe two people who can afford a $100k car.

If you need longer range, you can wait for the Aptera 2H. That will be a plug-in gas-electric hybrid. It will be pure electric drive with gas generator backup. So it has unlimited range, but if you drive less than 100 miles a day you don't use any gas at all.

When I need to take my kids somewhere, I will use my SUV. When I need to get to work and back, I'd rather drive this. Out here in the suburbs we call it a "second car".

I want to take the kids to football practice... oh wait, it has almost zero storage. I want to drive more than 100 miles before I have to wait 8 HOURS for the stupid thing to charge. You can't even take this thing on a holiday day trip because it doesn`t have the range. The only thing that makes this more useful than a Seguey is that you won`t get wet if it`s raining.
