they lost homes beacuse the inital down payment was very little, so they thought they could afford it. they failed to look at, or acknowledge, the mortgage prices. so they paid little at first then paid tons. nothing to do with oil profits

They also did not choose to get credit cards, purchase cars that were really expensive and generally people did not choose to live beyond their means... it was all a myth made up by the evil genious Bush and his henchmen at Exxon Mobile.

This is just like how Exxon Mobil says it is trying to help the world.
(WARNING: Political information below, skip unless you actually care.) Exxon Mobil & friends are the true cause of the state of the economy. The republican leaders tend to claim "People bought houses they couldn't afford".
Umm, no, people bought houses they could afford, then the oil prices got jacked up so high they couldn`t afford to pay their bills.
