I dont know where the hell you live, but ive never had a mouse in my house, never mind having to worry about one "nesting" in my mattress.

"Um, actually its nothing to do with comfort, its hygiene, the bed being raised off the floor allows air to circulate and stops mold, dampness and general unhealthiness in the mattress, plus makes it harder of course for mice to nest in there. Air is warmer higher up, at floor level you catch colds easily. Try putting your mattress on the floor for 12 months and you'll see why beds are raised."

And you`re gonna show me evidence that any of these are major issues in Japan?
