I, too, had a close-to-lightning experience.
To make it simple and to the point, we were driving home from the grocery store on a rainy Sunday evening, and when we least expect it, BANG! Lightning struck about 50ft away and we almost crashed because the sound scared us fuckless. Like another user said, it was like a flashbang, but a bit worse.
