While I can see both sides of this issue-

I think that the fact that the need has arisen for "gay-friendly" schools is depressing. Everyone has their opinions- some people voice them, some people shut the hell up. When you express your opinion by beating someone up, well, then drat you that's what happens. This is just stupid...

hmm, that didn't come out right. by "school isn`t real life" I mean that you shouldn`t have to worry about adult life while you`re in school, you should be worrying about what grade you`re getting in math, if you have enough paper for art, and if bobby joe is going to ask you to the prom or not.

I guess I am on both sides of the wall here. On one hand, I love the fact that there will be a place to go for gay/lesbian/bi/transgender people to go so they won't get picked on and can get a good education, and I am assuming that these schools are going to be voluntary. I doubt that the school board is going to say. "Oh, you`re gay? then you have to go to the "gay friendly schools"
but, on the other hand, I don`t think that is preparing them for real life, you can`t get rid of the biggots in every place. I think school needs to crack down harder on the bullies, both teachers and students.

Then again, school isn`t real life. And if you`re being bullied, then you can`t concentrate on your school life, plus depression sucks (take it from a girl who got bullied all through Jr high until she learned to stick up for herself)

I am confused :/

And, I am really proud of you IABers! Except for a few idiots, this has been a very mature debate!

It's nice to see a gay themed school, but in my honest opinion, I don`t think it`s really needed.

I approve of the curriculum including educating the kids about all of it, and being straightforward, as education beats ignorance...

Then if they cracked down SEVERELY on teasing, then maybe we`d be making a lot of progress as well. I know I faked sick a LOT in elementary and middle school because of teasing.

Personally I don't think it matters whether or not it is a choice or genetics. I think it can actually be a mix of both at times. But you can`t help who you fall in love with. If you wanna stand behind your Bible and preach to us that homosexuality is wrong thats fine. You can believe what you want but don`t stop others from loving who they want.

against gay marriage? Then don`t go to one.

think homosexuality is gross? then don`t sleep with the same sex

Really no one is bothering you personally in any way whatsoever. Most of you over fanatic religious people are just getting so caught up trying to "save everyone from the fires of hell" that you are completely ignoring every other lesson in Bible. Such as judge not lest ye be judged. Or let who is without sin cast the first stone.
