The block that was thrown at Travis Johnson (Texans) by QB Trent Green of the Dolphins was not a cheap shot. It was legal and legit and worked. Had he hit Johnson below the knees, it would've been illegal, but he did hit Johnson above the knees.
I understand how it`s frustrating/surprising when you don`t see the guy coming, but he still shouldn`t have taunted Green while he was down. (He was penalized for that, btw.)
Green was carted off the field on a stretcher and the injury (concussion) ended his season. (...even though he did practice with the team for a couple of weeks after the injury). After a string of concussions, this could`ve been the last play of his career; however, Green was soon cleared by doctors to play again in the NFL.
Cut by the Dolphins at the end of the season, Green signed with the Rams in March of this year, a three year deal worth $9 million. He currently backs up Marc Bulger.
