in a case where your friend is depressed... dont let them kill themselves.... as "normal" depression is often caused by a chemical that is released when somebody is very sad and this creates an unbalance they can be helped with counciling and anti-depressants manic-depression is an illness that cant be cured and can be helped with anti-depressants
letting yur friend die is selfish for the parents and all his friends

a reply to opies comment on the first page "I always find it odd that the more developed a country is (warning: generalization) the higher the suicide rate. Same with mental illnesses."
this is because is ledc (less ecenomically developed countries) mortality (without suicide) is lower so they are more likely to die from an illness or life situations eg starvation etc.... and mental illnesses are mainly found in elderly people so they arent living old enough to get them does that answer your question?
