It was intentional. I'm a catcher and I know what they did. The catcher calls for a high fastball and then drops down like it`s going to be a curve in the dirt. Then people think it`s an accident and the pitcher gets a free shot at the ump. I actually had a coach tell me to do that once if the ump made another bad call.

it was just a miscommunication. The catcher thought it would be in the dirt and he went down to his knees so early because of the man on second, he didn't want it to get away from him. and it seemed like he pulled the glove away last minute to hit the ump, but he was just doing it so that he could have a continuous momentum for his throw to 3rd base, he would need it if he was going to throw from his knees
