I VOLUNTEERED IN THE RED CROSS IN MEXICO AND THERE WERE A COUPLE OF PATIENTS I'LL NEVER FORGET. THERE WAS THIS REALLY HEAVYSET LADY WHOSE CAR WAS T`BONED. EVER SEEN `THE NUTTY PROFESSOR`? WAS JUST LIKE THAT. THEY HAD TO CUT UP HER CAR TO GET HER OUT. WHEN WE GOT HER ON THE STRETCHER, DAMNED THING GODDAMNED CRUNCHED IN HALF WHEN WE LIFTED IT UP!!! TOOK THE WHOLE DAMN TEAM TO GET HER ON AND OFF THE AMBULANCE. SHE WAS JUST SO HUGE!! AND TALL LIKE 6`6.

"Here's a link about defenseive tackle Tank Johnson along with a picture. Would you say he`s obese?"
No, but if he can`t fit on the damn helicopter, he can`t fit on the damn helicopter. & if he`s an athlete, he`s probably pretty healthy, thus probably isn`t going to be needing an airlift any time soon.

I do med flights in a Lear 35. We had this very large patient who was 530 pounds and had one leg. He had probably a 63-inch or so waist. Our door is 24-inches wide. Needless to say that flight didn't go. Aside from size, his situation would keep him from quickly egressing in an emergency. That becomes a major liablility.
