Painter, you are absolutely correct (yay someone who knows what they're talking about!)
I worked for awhile as a substance abuse counselor, and this happened to many of my clients. Not all, but usually the ones who saw no significant breaks in their use.
What I got from the "all people who smoke need psychiatric attention" is this:
I do believe that people who seek out illicit drugs or abuse alcohol are looking to create something that is missing in their lives. I think people who smoke weed, even recreationally, need to look at what is missing and find a healthier way to find it. I do agree though, not everyone who smokes the odd joint needs a shrink.
