iBot Wheelchair. Make no mistake, being bound to a wheelchair sucks, but if you have to use one, the iBot is definitely the way to go.

Kind of cheesy. Anyone seen Hannibal? The wheels on this thing are similar to the wheels of something he uses in there.

Somewhat cool, but I'd be scared to death to go up/down steps or curbs, or even to just be on only two wheels, period. Maybe I`m just paranoid about safety and that kind of stuff, but there is no way you would be able to get me to use that wheelchair. I would only do it if my life (or a loved one`s life) was in danger, or to avoid being extremely embarrassed.

I saw this years ago at Disney World (they also were demoing some early segways at the time). As much as it looks pretty nice the way it gets around on inconvenient terrain, I think it is best to have a self-powered chair as much as possible (so just use this thing when you are going somewhere that is not accessible). While these things increase handicapped peoples' independence from others, they do increase dependence upon technology, so you have to find a balance.
