Wow amazed that people are still commenting on this one since I posted it ages ago :)
Actually I remember that the original full article says that it is the direction you FIRST see spinning that is the one that you should go off as for most people it will change direction once you stare at it long enough :)

If you scroll all the way down, except her shadow reflecting on the bottom of the picture, it looks like she's spinning the opposite direction..

counter..i saw it clockwise for like 2 seconds after awhile but then it changed back to counter for the rest of the time i watched.
