CheryKoolaid, shorter lifespan is not necessarily an evolutionary detriment. The greater bulk could easily lead to more food options and better security for her pups. Evolution doesn't really care how long you live, but how many of you live. Despite the grand (and arguably deserved) notion we have of our individual importance, in the big picture we`re pretty much just DNA dispensers (aka `biological sluts`..j/k). So who`s to say what is or isn`t a genetic "defect"?? And I agree, I wanna hug her too.

Waty, Read the article. Despite it's huge muscles it still has the same size heart and lungs, plus she`s heavier than normal, which may lead to a shorter than normal lifespan for her.
Poor doggie. I`d be scared but I still wanna hug her.
