frankly, it doesn't surprise me that there`s a catch. if a car can realistically get 60mpg with no side effects then it would probably be law by now, not a novelty for retards who want to feel they`re above everyone else.

I had to laugh at this article, As you might notice from my username I'm from said Sudbury an it`s anything but dead. Ya they did moon rover testing here.. in the 60`s but alot has changed since then in the 70`s the government cracked down on pollution control and the mining company`s had to clean up thier act and do a bunch of reforesting.. now people come from all over to watch the leaves change. lol this article is a bunch of hooeey.

Interesting view. Not sure it is credible though. I'm sure parts from many cars aren`t all made on site, including Hummers. It would be nearly impossible for every company to create everything on site, speaking economically, hence why we have specialization of labor. Of course energy is used to ship the items, however it`s just more practical.
On another note, anyone who finds this article interesting (and does not know about it) should check out running cars on Biodiesel. Nothing like running a car on used veggie oil and exhaust smelling like Chinese food.:)
