I know why it is BFG.
The ironry is in the link in my last post, three up from here. it shows a revolver called the BFR but the company means "Biggest Finest Revolver".

How's that ironic? BFG stemmed from a weapon in Doom (The BFG 9000), showed up in a few other games, was referred to on I-Am-Bored, and then was parodied in the name of a real gun. Where`s the irony in that?
