I really thought Katrina was a Cat 5 when she came ashore, I didn't realize she`d weakened so much...I can`t imagine N.O. getting hit by an actual Cat 5. I worked with the Red Cross last year in Louisiana and it was CRAZY when all the evacuees showed up overnight...then Rita hit and all our shelters lost power so the evacuees from Katrina had to evacuate AGAIN...I felt awful for those people.

katrina was a wholly unusual. wouldnt have flooded like that if it was'nt in the most idiotic place for a costal town ever. if it wasnt designed before people understood that it is below sea level, i`d have no sympathy.

IN a Cat 5 if you were near the shore...yes the ocean could cover it, it only takes a storm surge of 20 feet. And i say if you stay in your home, by your own choice, in the path of a hurricane and something happens you have only yourself to blame.
