Funkycrs - we're talking about iq; so america does have an average. As for, "most of the great inventions of the last 100 years have come from america", you illustrate another american trait - insularity and ignorance. How many of these were invented/discovered/first done by americans -

Jon1984 hit the nail on the head. This professor Lynn is a retard...he's one of these sensationalist-type professors engaging in pseudo-science who likes to get himself a few shock headlines now and then (and a few corresponding grant dollars). He`s not something most Irish are proud of, frankly.
That said, I personally like Germans a lot and do find them quite intelligent, but any extended stroll through France (along with its cultural/historical legacy) will show anyone with any "IQ" at all that the French are pretty damn sharp themselves. And yes, Napoleon was one of the world`s true military geniuses.
So when it comes to this "study", remember the source and ignore accordingly.

Where to begin... IQ tests have been shown time and time again to be useless, and just represent various biases, do not depict intelligence, whatever that is. I've taken two tests in my life with one being about 132 and the other 119, which is a pretty big difference that shows their accuracy.
I`m guessing the US`s IQ would probably be around 100 as that`s where the majority of IQ tests have been developed and 100 is average on an IQ test.
It doesn`t matter what the average IQ for your country is as your all individuals and the differences were negligible.
This professor is obviouslly screwed up as he`s advocating environmental determinism (where the environment determines your intelligence and civility), something that has been debunked for about 80 years. I mean just look at what he said about wars, which is clearly a load of bullsh*t, Napolean (a French guy - well technically Corsican, does that still count? - anyway he used French troops) ruled over most of Europe at one poi

Did anyone even read gnazzah's post? It pretty much makes all this dialogue moot. The differences between all the countries is pretty negligable, and not worthy of this nationality baiting.
