"I bet most of you think the Coriolis effect makes toilets flush clockwise in the northern hemisphere and counterclockwise in the southern?" So you took a class in college, big whoop, I bet I can take you to school on Linguistics, but you'll deny you`re an idiot, right?

Well, no need to be haughty about it, etrigan. I don't consider myself an idiot, no. If I had never taken a physics class in high school, I wouldn`t understand scientific notation either. That doesn`t make the others "idiots". As for the Coriolis effect, it is one of those urban legends that have become "fact". It is said so much, that many believe it. It`s great that you know so much about this, but there is no need to be so cutting to the others on this site just because you know something that they don`t.

I cannot readanymore of this nonsense.
"Glass" is a term used to describe an amorphous SOLID. Its describes its lack of crystaliine structure and has nothing to do with its viscosity.
Therefore by definition glass IS a solid.
The whole thing is an urban ledgend. Humans have not been making glass long enough to have observed a flow.. The predicated relaxation time for GEO2 at room temperature is 10^32 years (thats 10 with 32 zeros after it years for idiots)
Assuming those figures are wrong and some medieval glass shows flow, wouldnt that mean Egyptian or Greek objects would actually show proportionally more flow being 3000 years old?
The reason old panes of Window glass are sometimes thicker at the bottom is because of glass blowing centrifugal forces. They are often found thick end at the top!
I bet most of you think the Coriolis effect makes toilets flush clockwise in the northern hemisphere and counterclockwise in the southern?

haha quite amusing... I remember discussing the "water IS blue" and the "all seasons are NOT equal in length" topics with my science teacher three-four years ago. he tried to point out that those theories were false, that didn't work... so he gave me detention.
good thing I wasn`t around many many centuries ago to discuss the "Earth NOT being flat" theory or I`d get more than just detention.
