Contrary to what some people think. In science, the word theory is used to describe something that is about as solid as it can get.
It's still a work in progress, the details are still being worked out, with new data being added and out understanding of its machinations increasing every day. But to suppose that the word Theory means that it`s just a best guess that could be disproven at any point, is to not understand the scientific usage of the word `theory` at all.
That`s not to say that it COULDN`T be disproven or radically changed, part of science is to always be ready to change what you consider `fact` based on new information. It`s just that in order to disprove the theory of evolution at this point, you would need some sort of momentous discovery (or a series of such discoveries) that fundamentally changed our basic understanding of biology, chemstry, microscopy and geology, to name a few fields.
