Actually, I frequently shop at a Family Dollar in Omaha. Family Dollar is really decent as far as dollar stores go. A pair of jeans usually averages $8-$18, and they are usually second class, somewhat fashionable brands like Machine Jeans Co. and Highland Outfitters. They also sell name brand housewares and food and stuff. It is the perfect place to get day-to-day supplies without wandering around a mega superstore. The only thing that makes Faily Dollar a "dollar store" is that even-dollar pricing is usually used. Think of it like a small neighborhood Wal-Mart that rounds their prices off.
Now stores like "About-A-Buck" and "Dollar Tree", those are dollar stores. Imagine stealing 1,700 stupid ceramic trinkets and bottles of crappy off-brand soda =D
