jops360 is correct. Microwave ovens are nothing more than high-power radio transmitters. They operate in the 2.4 GHz range. As stated, they cause injury by actually cooking body tissue. The eyes, being very sensitive to RF (radio frequency), are particularly vulnerable. Cancer is not likely from one, as RF generally destroys tissue, not mutates it. Yay, science!
