Medieval Knight Reenactor Fatally Impaled With His Lance

Submitted by: fancylad 1 week ago in News & Politics

In a report from ABC News, a Medieval knight reenactor who performed under the name "Master Terafan Greydragon," died Saturday afternoon while performing in an equestrian game in Kentucky.

Peter Barclay, 53, was apparently trying to spear a paper plate when his lance hit the ground, flipped, and stabbed him in the chest, according to John Fulton, the man’s brother and the president of Society for Creative Anachronism, which was hosting the event. An autopsy has not yet been performed, but the death is listed as accidental.

Makes me think of the scene in Men in Tights, when they got knocked off by the soup-can dummies.

He wasn't even jousting against a live opponent? Ouch, that's the part that really hurts :-<

Wonder what the cause of death will be, once the autopsy is completed.

Draculya If he wasn't jousting against another lance, probably light-weight costume stuff.

Henry II died jousting.... a noble death. Or pointless depending on your viewpoint.

This is how my brothers and I  did it

Never joust with a paper plate. Paper beats lance.
