Superposition of sound waves.

Amazing thing about sound is that it stacks together neatly as pressure waves. More amazingly, our brains can convert this pressure to language.

Watched a video on that lanny whatever thing too. And in that situation both words are being said. The trick is that after about 25 or 26 there is a very specific tonal rage that we old folks can't hear any more, so depending on the quality of the recording and your age it was just a test of your age.
I believe that I have mentioned this defect in old peoples hearing before. Malls will play classical music at the level that only young people can hear, to them very loud, and it's to try and keep them from congregating in the mall.
I suspect that this is the same thing.

casaledana I'm almost 60. Depending on the word I thought, that's what I heard. Sorry, wrong theory.

thubanstar     Well I am over 60 and I only heard one word no matter what I said before each time, so it's still a theory.

All I get is green needle. Nothing close to brainstorm.

Dagnabbit. I can hear "green needle" and even "brain needle" but I cannot, for the life of me, hear "brainstorm." I think it has to do with the differences between squirrel and human ears. ~wiggles ears~

squrlz4ever Say the words outloud before the recording says it, see if that works

daegog Nope. The closest I get to "brainstorm" is "brain needle." In fact, the "needle" part is so distinct it's hard to believe anyone can hear "storm" there. Weird.

If I say one or the other before it says it, I can hear what I just said.
