Gerry1of1 Yes, because the Chinese have no problem with the letter L, given that it's common in their language. It's the Japanese that have trouble pronouncing it.

Initially, I thought the attacker was the fire hydrant in the background.  I mean, that's where the finger is pointing.

So they've adopted be preferred liberal method.
It does seem effective.
There was a similar case in New York for the police show the effectiveness of the technique.

It is not even wrong. If your exit is not blocked run.

If its blocked crouch into a low centre ready position, thumbs tucked into your hands. Try and strike down to disarm with both hands when attacked screaming loudly. If that failed to disarm and disorientate try and protect your centre your probs not making it out alive.

Only idiots would take on a knife wielding attacker without proper equipment.

jayme21 Its been 20 or so years, but the FBI training used to be, 'shove the person away, then rapidly back off while pulling your firearm and shooting the knife wielder.'  If you can still use your hands that is (a trained knife user will slice your tendons eight away).

kelly_hanna this is if unarmed. I know several people made points about shooting but even in the US not everyone has a gun all the time.

The tendons point is why your thumb should be shielded so you can still use it if slashed.

Things are changing with the increase in knife use in UK. More calls for tasers for police and other LEA which traditionally dont have guns HMRC , NCA. Unless you have firepower of some sort best advice really is run away report or come back with a ranged suppressing weapon.

jayme21 The FBI training makes the assumption that you're armed.  If you aren't, and the knife guy knows what he's doing, you'd best just run.  When I went through the training, the knife wielder was some black belt, judo, chuck Norris wannabe.  He told us he was trained in knife fighting, trained in the phillipines, etc, etc.  In all fairness, when we went through the training against him, he had a rubber knife and showed us that he could slice us into kebabs before we could do squat.  And he did it in scant seconds, before you could blink.
