Polling The Drunkards: What's Your Favorite Beer And Why?

Submitted by: rumham 3 weeks ago in Lifestyle

I love beer. I love IPAs above most, but what's you're favorite beer and why?

(Those who drink the fancy brands with flavors from raisins, coffee, rose petals, and/or reindeer farts need not answer.)

My absolute faaaavorite beer is brewed in my hometown at a place called Dempseys Pub! Its a light beer called Battleaxe Blonde. I am unsure of what they put into the brew, but it has some floral notes to it and ugh its just delicious! As for beers that get distributed onto shelves, if you ever have a chance to try any Empyrean brews out of Lincoln, NE, they have some great beers as well! I am unsure if they distribute outside of the state. As for one that definitely gets distributed (Im assuming) everywhere, I love Stella Artois! Yes, its a very skunky beer but I love the taste. One time while visiting the Horseshoe Casino in Council Bluffs, IA (a 50 minute drive from where I live, Lincoln, NE), they didnt have Stella, but the bartender said she had a beer I might like that was similar and if I didnt like it, I didnt have to buy it. Its called Peroni and was just as tasty as the Stella! It sounds weird, but to me, it kind of had a tortilla aftertaste! Another beer I enjoy with a weird taste is Levity by the Odell Brewing Company. It tastes really earthy... kind of like what it smells like when you are raking fall leaves. Yes, that one sounds REALLY weird, but its what it reminded me of!

The booze and weed industry will become the primary catalyst for automated cars.

Safety... Meh whatever..

Drink/Smoke all you want and dont worry about DUI?  GIMME THAT NOW!

Favorite beer: Fosters, I had an aussie buddy who got pissed off about the beer whenever we ordered it.  I drank it so often, i just never stopped.  I wonder what happened to him.  Might have to try facebook.

When I was stationed in Germany I developed and affinity for Hefe Weizen.  My fav in that flavor would be any one of the Holy Trinity: Hacker Pschorr, Paulaner or Franziskaner.

However lately I’ve warmed up to IPAs and like Lagunitas (‘lil sumpin sumpin is a nice treat) and Cigar City Jai Alai (when in Florida).

rumham I remember the dark days of the 70s when all beer looked and tasted alike.  We are truly fortunate to be living in a microbrew revolution.

Yeungling, specifically their Black & Tan!

It's made locally-ish, and you can only really get it in PA, and the surrounding states.

david-morris I have good news if you want to work on your winter tan while drinking Black and Tan: Yuengling’s Tampa brewery produces it.

DuckBoy87 I resemble that remark!  All I need is a land-yacht Buick, comfy shoes and cane to swat you smart mouthed youngsters with (and drive in the inside lane of the expressway at 45 mph with my turn signal on....)

No way I can narrow it down to a favorite beer.  I'm a beer snob and dink beer like a wine snob drinks wine.  I love to sample many different brews.  My preference is usually to porters and stouts.  I'd have to send a "shout out" to our local craft brewery, Koi Pond Brewery.  They have several that I have heard the angels sing when I drank the beers.

Mine is probably Hop House 13 Lager. It is the larger made by Guinness and it goes down very well. It is more hoppy then the regular larger but nothing too much.

Not a heavy drinker so I tend to like the IPA's.

Fat Tire is probably my go-to.  When I travel to Montreal I try and find Rickard's on tap.

Was in Wyoming one time and found Moose Drool Brown Ale, which was very good.

megrendel I highly recommend the beers I listed below, they come in cans for easy access and disposal.  Plus, something about the can adds to the flavor of an IPA IMHO.

I have a very sophisticated palate.
For decades my favorite was Schlitz Malt liquor {more alcohol content}
but now I'm older I prefer Bud Platinum.    Yeah, I'm very sophisticated.

markust123 That's awesome. I'm a scotch drinker, but if I drank beer, this is all I would drink. Deliciously irreverent.

Hoegaarden, but anything Belgian or Bavarian will do me. McEwan's Export (draft only) if I'm enjoying a whisky chaser.

Guinness. I was told I wouldn't like it the first time. I'm a recovering picky eater and knew I wouldn't like it the first time. Loved it. Must be imprinted into my heritage.
