Trump is indeed an idiot. Wading into this issue, just like he has with NK, trying to prove that he has the balls to sort things out, succeeding where nobody else has. His ego and hunger to make his mark is very dangerous indeed.

The place was never even Palestine. It was just a part of jordan. The palestinians could just go to the rest and their arab friends to keep raping goats.

Fojos it was Cannan before it was Judaea, Palestinians are direct descendants of Canaanites and other Semitic people's and have lived there continuously since long before Judaism/Israel was formed.

There may be some fucked up people in the Middle East, but it's people like you that make me prefer them over America. You are a disgrace to your country.

layla_wilson Different language, different religion, no the Canaanites are extinct now. Even you yourself said there's their DNA in modern Jews too, so by your logic the Jews have just as much right as do the 'Palestinians'.

And David founded modern Jerusalem, and Jews have lived there ever since (in spite of many efforts to exterminate them).

Mohammed never once visited Jerusalem, and it is not mentioned in the Koran... (so I've read).

5cats You are so god damn misinformed/ignorant. The Israelites tried to exterminate the Canaanites and others before the Babylonians sacked Jerusalem, and took their intelectuals back to Babylon to work for them(where the New Testament was written) The Hebrew languageipretty much died, while other languages surfaced. Most Palestinians heritage have lived in the area for millennia, but the majority of Jews in Isreal have recently immigrated there after thousands of years elsewhere. You do realise that most Israelites that continuosly lived there converted to Christianity and or then Islam and are now modern day Palestinians/Syrians/lebaneese/Jordanian right?

Different language/ different religion? Both Hebrew and Arabic come from Aramaic(the language that was spoken at the time which is a later version of Akkadian) . Both Islam and Judaism(and Christianity) were based on the polytheistic religions of ancient times. The main deity of Abraham(who was from modern day Iraq) and the main deity of Mohammad were the same God. His name was Nanna(Sumerian name) and su'em/sin(Akkadian name) he was a moon God, one of many deitys of ancient times who was placed solely incharge  of the human race.

Jerusalem is the product of many different Semitic people and religions, it was founded long before the time of david(and there is no archeological evidence to even prove his existence, just like there is no evidence of Moses even existing apart from Jewish myths) to claim Jerusalem is the eternal capital of Israel(Jewish state) is an affront to everyone else of similar background.

You are a seriously unintelligent, uninformed, ignorant, bigoted idiot.

Too sad for America and the world at large that we have elected such a Stupid and Clueless Rich person to the once revered office of President. America is still great excluding it's current President, his staff and spineless members of Congress

Why?  Why do it now?  Why destabilize the area more?  The reason why this has not happened since 1995 when it was first proposed is because it would cause problems in the area and as we all know...problems there have been since that time.  These problems have not gone away, why not throw more fuel on the fire right?  I mean, what could possibly happen?

kalron27 I am thinking he made this move on purpose.  I believe he knows that doing this will probably destabilize the entire area, but he did it anyway because he must believe that there is something to gain in doing so.  At the very least, he believes there is nothing to lose since (as holygod mentioned) he is sitting 6000 miles away.

He says he wants what's best for America and he has proven that he will stop at nothing to get what he wants - including lying, cheating, stealing, and even committing treason.  So, my guess is that someone convinced him that taking this risk is worth it.  The status-quo hasn't worked so far, so why not take a chance?  What if it works?  What if this is the catalyst for peace in that region?  My god... he'd be declared a hero.  Even those of us who hate him will have to concede the fact that he put in motion the forces that brought about an impossible peace.

Time will tell.

The cynical side of me thinks there are deeper forces in play.  Whoever it was that convinced him this is a worthwhile risk must have some kind of Plan B in place if (but probably when) it fails miserably.  Is this a play for oil?  Maybe they're thinking that if it fails it will lead to everyone who sitting atop all that oil to destroy themselves and then they can slip in and take control of it?   I don't know.  God, I hope I'm wrong.  Otherwise, god help us all.

skeeter01 Time will tell indeed.

My cynical side thinks that none of this has to do with anything of intelligence or planning, it has everything to do with boosting the ego of a megalomaniac.

Heres a fantastic article of the top 10 reasons East Jerusalem does NOT belong to Jewish-Israelis

My favourite reason of the article is: "3. Romantic nationalism imagines a “people” as eternal and as having an eternal connection with a specific piece of land. This way of thinking is fantastic and mythological. Peoples are formed and change and sometimes cease to be, though they might have descendants who abandoned that religion or ethnicity or language. Human beings have moved all around and are not directly tied to any territory in an exclusive way, since many groups have lived on most pieces of land. Jerusalem was not founded by Jews, i.e. adherents of the Jewish religion. It was founded between 3000 BCE and 2600 BCE by a West Semitic people or possibly the Canaanites, the common ancestors of Palestinians, Lebanese, many Syrians and Jordanians, and many Jews. But when it was founded Jews did not exist."

layla_wilson Did Islam exist then? Did 'Palestinians'?
You are shitting out the wrong hole... must be painful.

You even admit that some Jews have some Canaanite blood in them, thus giving them exactly the same claim to authenticity as the rest. Except there wasn't any such thing as a Muslim or a 'Palestinian' until comparatively modern times. But Jews existed then and still do now. Same language, same religion, continuous residence in Israel for 3000+ years... checkmate.

5cats your far past being an idiot its hilarious. Im not going to bother getting into an argument with you. Banging my head off a wall would be more insightful. From that comment you have clearly demonstrated you really know fuck all about middle eastern history. Your ignorance will be the death of you, one can only hope its sooner rather than later.

Hundreds of people, if not thousands, are going to die as a result of a symbolic gesture that accomplishes nothing.

holygod So... capitulate to the terrorists! Obey their every whim or else innocent people will die! And that will be Trump's or Israel's fault, not the terrorists who are really Patriots of another nation...
Good plan dude!
Next: pay EVERY kidnapper or hijacker anything they demand, that will surely appease them!

DrCribbens Who said blameless? Why go to such extremes? Does any group have to be 100% pure to be supported by you? Then how on Earth can you support the PLO?? O_o

5cats You seem very keen to throw the 't' word around. You don't seem to be aware of any of the facts of the situation, such as the fact that 90% of the deaths in the Israeli/Palestinian war are Palestinians (96% if you just count since 2005). If anyone's capitulating to terrorists, I think Trump just did.

mrsnowmeiser And who's fault would that be? Clinton who signed the 1995 Bill to move it? Or the terrorists who refuse to allow a single peaceful gesture to pass without violence and bloodshed?

I guess Bill Clinton (who signed that resolution) had balls too?? That stain on the blue dress... :-O

Just wondering if you were ignorant of the facts here...

5cats The fact that Clinton signed the bill didn't make it the right thing to do, in my mind. And guess what? It didn't happen!!! For some bizarre reason, the fact that Trump wants to do it makes it right in your mind? It's a destabilizing move - not that anything over there is actually stable, of course, but this is very likely to make things worse, much worse. That will work in asshole Trump's favor, though, because he'll point it out to back up his apparent viewpoint of how awful Muslims are and all the knee-jerk Republican Trumpsters will, naturally, agree. If Trump said it then, despite the clearly opposite opinion of pretty much everyone in the world, it must be right.
