[Photos] This Is What A $1.7 Million Motorhome Gets You

Submitted by: fancylad 1 month ago in Misc Tech

It's a home on wheels -- garage and all.

Volkner Mobil’s "Performance S" will set you back $1.7 million, but what do you expect with an RV that comes with its own garage. The 40-foot behemoth houses a bedroom with a double bed, a fully-equipped kitchen, a spacious lounge area, and a heated bathroom. Outfit this baby with some solar panels and a reinforced body, and you're ready for the impending zombie apocalypse.

Pointlessly large. Give me a VW Camper or Dormobile any day.

Gerry1of1 I was skeptical of the $1.7M price tag until they said the magic words “heated bathroom”!

Now I have to have one because, I mean, who has heated bathrooms, right?

woodyville06 I have a heated bathroom in my lower middle class apartment.  I put an electric heater/fan in there and plugged it in.

I am still struggling to understand the official and the practical reason for the existence of RV homes. How is staying in a lodge, hotel or a motel not always better? There's wild camping, but you can't drive a freaking house there.

snoopybg I'm not a fan of RV's.  Would rather stay in a hotel, motel or even a tent.

BUT, I know someone who does not like to stay in hotels to the point of it almost being a phobia.

He also runs a business that requires lot of travel to jobsites, and he uses his RV as a portable office.

snoopybg You don't have to constantly pack and unpack if you're touring in an RV. Also, enjoy cooked food instead of risking restaurants . Comforts of home with new scenery

Gerry1of1 exactly, and if you dingy-tow a little car like a Prius or something you can run around once you get to the location.

The wife is pushing me on the idea but I’m sick of driving (and she won’t).

woodyville06 NO NO NO... Do it when you're a widower, not as a couple. Cooped up in that space 24/7.... do you want lethal injection????

woodyville06 I'm suggesting that if you attempt to caravan together you'll shoot her, or she'll shoot you

Gerry1of1 both being retired military we believe in firearm safety, this will more likely be like the movie War of the Roses.

Gerry1of1 We would refer to this as a coahc- same thing I 'think' Peter Pan and Greyhound use as buses. I've seen a few done over into homes for travellers and despite being old (those things are expensive) and the work being done cheaply the results are nicer I think, there's ALWAYS a wood burner, pallet wood is often used abd whilst they always smell faintly of potatoes and wet dog they are far cosier then this. This is just a glorified camper van which is far too big to go anywhere interesting. Swathes of the country have roads too narrow and bendy for this bugger.

$1.7 million buys a lot of hotel rooms and hookers, though.

Draculya I think it depends on the quality of hooker...

And Motel 6 vs Four Seasons

really, it doesn't even look like real wood, but that chip-board with a laminate surface.

monkwarrior I agree it didn’t look like wood veneer.  In vehicles and especially aircraft it needs to be made light. If it was solid wood it would weigh 20 tons.

Now, the lightness of the cabinetry is separate form the quality of the veneer and finishes  This looked to be styled in something like euro-modern which doesn’t appeal to me.

Gerry1of1 I was thinking the exact same thing. A lot of the inside looks really cheap. Was all the money spent on the garage?
