The Eye of Binhai

This is what your grandkid's libraries are going going to look like (if there are still books in the future. Binhai Cultural District In Tianjin, the five-story library, "The Eye of Binhai," covers 34,000 square meters and can hold up to 1.2 million books.

If I was a Chinese super villain and built a base to impress James Bond, it would look like this.  and many hot asian women in go go boots running the joint.

p.s.  those "books" that seem impossible to reach are just wallpaper.  If you look closely, you can see they are flat on some photos and on the wide shots there are many repeating patterns.

It seems silly to put bookshelves right up there along the ceiling with no way to get the books, it doesn't look possible to get at some books without a special type of apparatus.  While i like books i'm divided.. i think there should be less books and more digital ones, but they shouldn't stop making important paper books, that the future could need in the event of a world-wide emp that destroys all electronics.

Looks amazing and very impractical. Hopefully there is something not pictured that makes it more user friendly than it looks.

taxidriver I had the same thought, where are the tables and why is so much space wasted on aesthetics.
