HVAC Guy Finds Creepy Hidden Bunker In A Home He's Servicing -- WTF?

What is this? A sex attic? A secret drug den? A jack-off sanctuary? A zombie hideout? What would you use it for?

From the YouTube description:  "He told me of a boy named R.J. Moore and his mother Dee Dee Moore, better known as the lottery killer. Later, someone sent me more screenshots of the plates that were hung in the secret room confirming they belonged to Dee Dee Moore. I'm not sure what the secret room was used for, but if I had to guess I would guess it was from hiding out from the police."

jclv doesn't seem like it would be an effective place to hide.  A casual peek into the attic would reveal the carpet and should prompt someone to follow it to find the room.

The other weird thing on reading about the murder and timeline is that it looks like it was her, not her son, that killed him.  The plumbing up there would not be conducive to a woman going to the bathroom while hiding.

I suspect the room is an intentional red herring.  Moore claimed she was asked by her victim to help him hide after continued harassment due to his lottery winnings wouldn't stop.  Building a room like this "for him to hide in" is the illogical extreme of that.

twx I dunno, carpet in the attic, for being easier on your knees when crawling around up there to do repairs or pull down your christam decorations is not that odd.  My sister and I used some left over runners after the house was re-carpeted to do something similar in our attic as kids and kind of built a fort out of boxes that were up there.  It leads to a door, but it does not look like a door and your average person, even a police officer, might not notice it.  The only reason the HVAC tech did(and they spend lots of time in attics so know what looks unusual) is because the duct was not connected so he went to see where it went and realized it led to an external wall.  If not for that, he might not have noticed it himself and likely would have just appreciated the carpet being there as it made his work a bit easier.

No lock so unlikely to be for someone against their will. I'm thinking either a hideout from police or more likely some teenage boy's dream come true.

toetagmodel2 it's a bit difficult to get to for an unwilling person, and too easy to get out if unsupervised. I just don't understand why they went to so much work to 'hide' it, and then put a carpeted walkway to it.

maybe the carpet is because you have to commando-crawl for a  bit to get to it?

toetagmodel2 Yeah, with the plugs and cable hookup, either a kids "treehouse"/hideout area or maybe a husband who wanted to be able to hide from his wife.

waldo863 I vote for wife hideout.  It has a “urinal”of sorts (I don’t want to know where it drains out) and accommodations for a TV but he’ll need to go back in the house to drop a deuce.

The build quality was beyond that of your average teen
