I'm not sure if it was posted here but one really bad hitchhiking story I recently read about was a 15 year old girl who got a ride from a 51 year old man. He knocked her out, tied her up, repeatedly raped her and then chopped off both her hands / forearms with a hatchet, threw her over a 30 foot cliff and then left her for dead. She survived. They caught the guy and he received 14 years of which he served 8. Roughly 10 years later her murdered a prostitute (a mother of 3). He got the death penalty but died of cancer before his execution.

dm2754 Pee Wee basically ripped off a classic urban legend of Phantom 309 which was eventually made into a song by Johnny Cash

thezigrat well girl you're really bad at misinterpreting what people say.
At what point did anybody say Pee-wee Herman invented the story?

What we see here is a video someone made about the story. What I said is PeeWee did it better.

So let me explain it to you slowly.
The version of the story that appeared in Pee-wee's Big Adventure. "Large Marge"was in my opinion a better telling of the tale then this video.

dm2754 I never said the Pee did not do it better. I said he copied it from a well known story

cluffy  How So?
I meant that the Pee ripped of Johnny Cash's Phantom 309 that was based on a classic urban legend about hitchhiker who gets a ride with a (ghost) truck driver who choose certain death rather than hitting a bus full of children.

"You must drinka da Pee"

Johnny Cash did not sing Phantom 309. It was a hit for Red Sovine. And retelling an urban legend can hardly be considered a rip-off.

I guess I'm not easily spooked. Lot's of build up for an anticlimatic ending.
Could've been more interesting if it were fleshed out a bit more.

Fun fact: a French girl who shares the same last name as me went to England in the late 80's. To get around, she hitchhiked everywhere.
One gentlemen stopped and picked her up, where he drugged her, took her to an abandoned church, raped her, then murdered her.
England used that story as a PSA to not hitchhike.

faustsshadow Yeah, I'm not a horror fan. Find it more silly than scary.

Went through haunted house + cornfield in my area with a group of friends. They all shoved me to the front, for whatever reason. So I decided to walk reeeeeally slowly through the house. They kept insisting that I go faster. I asked if any of them would like to lead and take it at their own pace; they all declined.
I had more fun watching them be scared than being 'scared'.
