PewDiePie Can't Stop Being Racist On YouTube, But It's Because He Knows What His Fans Want

Submitted by: fancylad 3 months ago in Games News & Politics

Felix Kjellberg casually calls someone 'nigger' and no one bats an eyelash, his fans actually applaud him and encourage it. Read the comments here. Racism is alive and well in 2017, and it's not going anywhere.

The thing is, no one bats an eyelash anymore. Read the comments in video -- his fans applaud it's use and encourage it. I guess this is the new normal until he gets his ass kicked.

The Guardian reports on the incident in vain, but it doesn't matter -- as long as YouTube and everyone else is getting their cut of the money he generates, it's racism ahoy. Racism is the new norm.

Everyone's a little bit raciest sometimes! Doesn't mean we go around committing hate crimes!

If people want to use the word, I say use it all you want, but to the person's face. Using the word in a derogatory way behind a computer is is pussy way to exist. Little man syndrome.

Good for  him. Comedians should never apologize.
That's also keep in mind that words have different meanings in other countries.

dm2754 what kind of stupid fucking statement is that? If you weren't funny and it was far too far, you should be a fucking human, say you're sorry. Different meanings in different countries? There's only one country on earth that uses that word you dingleberry.
If Pewdiepie or whatever his fucking name is, if he could atleast play games well, I'd cut him an inch. But the dude is a joke, and really, so is everyone who takes hours out of their day to watch this unfunny fuck suck at games.

thething911 in the United States the word cunt means the most vile thing you can say to a woman. It usually invokes fist fights. In the United Kingdom the word content means a good friend of yours.
In the United States the word Niger is the most vile thing you can say to a black person. in the Netherlands is virtually meaningless.
But you wouldn't know that cuz your a stupid fuck tard.

fancylad unbeknownst to most Americans PewDiePie is the most famous entertainer in the world with over 33 million fans.
I don't think you grasp the concept of trolling. The purpose of trolling is to make the other person as angry as possible. Some people are merely stating opinions and making jokes. Take a look at Katt Williams who said Nigger over 150 times during his Netflix special.

Meh, I've heard and been called way worse playing online.  The Wallstreet Journal report on him last year for being an anti-Semite was a total slander job, they even used a video he purposely created to goad the media as proof.  It was a fucking joke of reporting\journalism.

Not a fan of the guy but he isn't a racist for calling someone the "N word" while playing a FPS online, that is grasping at straws.

kalron27 What do you have to do to be racist exactly, in your opinion?

daegog to be racist is all based on intent. If you wish to degrade demean or offend.
What's not racist: is Intending to joke or show camaraderie.
Chris Rock does a very good video explaining the use of the word is in America.

daegog While I personally don't use the word or condone it in my presence, it is something you hear all of the time when playing online.  Is it derogatory?  Yes.  Is it racist?  In this situation, I don't believe so.  He wasn't directing it toward a person of color for hateful means.  He was using it as a expletive.   If he used the word "fag" or "cunt" or anything else deemed offensive in this situation, I wouldn't find him homophobic or anti-female either.

Like everything else in today's PC world, it's the context that counts.  In this case, Pewdiepie is a fucking idiot, but a racist...I don't think so.

kalron27 Calling someone a nigger in a knee-jerk reaction to a video game is pretty racist, and behind the safety of a computer, is cowardly. If he, or any gamer who uses the word wants to use it, they should try the word out on a black person face to face. That's a pretty good litmus test on if the word is acceptable.

fancylad See my comment below.  I agree with your statement on using the word to a black person's face first.  I'm not defending him at all, I am actually offended by it, I just don't think he is actually a racist.

kalron27 In what context is this not racist?  Do you think it wasnt racist because he didn't say it directly to a black person?  Is that your idea?

In that case, there are practically no racists in the world, because i can count on one hand the number of white people that have called me nigger to my face WHILE in my reach.

Now what exactly does this pew fellow have to do for you to declare him racist, at least in your mind?  Does he have to lynch a black person?  Can he just join the nazi or republican party?  What exactly is the line dividing racist and fucking idiot?

kalron27 see.. here is the difference CONTEXT matters.  Are you telling me you see no difference between the usage of Louis CK and Pew?

daegog Actually no, and that is Louie's point.  The fact that what he thought about the coffee was actually offensive, just like Pew's use of the word...it just wasn't racist or aimed at someone's race.  That is exactly what Louie prefaces his statement with.  Both are using the word as an expletive expression not as a hate speech.

daegog Look, this is a very slim area of discussion, but it is the slim line I draw between being a liberal and an independent.  The word has been appropriated into culture long LONG ago.  My personal first real appropriation experience is from NWA back in 1988.  The term since then has become synonymous with both racial tension and derogatory expletive.  I lived through the Neo Skinheads of the late 80's and the Neo Alt Right of today.  I understand the difference between someone being racist and someone appropriating a word to be derogatory.

As someone who is married to a Jew, I found no fault with his supposed anti-Semitic statements the media blew up into something silly, nor did my Jewish wife.  It was nothing different than Howard Stern and early "Shock Jocks"  This is the same situation.  It is just some idiot who used a word that has been casually used for decades to demonstrate a state of being.  It wasn't any more racist than his earlier videos were not anti-Semitic.  They are being taken out of context to push a PC media view.

Honest question, have you ever played an online FPS game?  It is a slime pit of filth and morons who talk big behind anonymous screens.  Like I said, I don't personally condone it, but to call racism for saying the "N" word during online gaming is taking things a bit to far.  Again, the guy is a fucking idiot no doubt, but to be called a racist for using the term as an expletive doesn't work for me.

kalron27 I have played many online FPS games and yes i have been called nigger more online than ever possible in real life and it is a great life lesson.

You see who people REALLY aree, when they are safe at home and can't get punched in the mouth people will say all kind of shit they would never say to your face.

To me, if anything, it shows that i do not get called nigger more in real life is because people do not wish to risk getting assaulted, NOT because it is the wrong thing to say.

In that regard, i can appreciate the honesty of those nazi/nationalist  chaps, at least you know where you stand with them, its the fuckers at home being mr brave behind a pc are the ones that will really fuck you over.

You have yet to answer, what does a person have to do to be racist? Is it some number he has to reach? Is it multiple races he has to offend?  Does he actually have to lynch a person?

daegog I did answer your question:

"He wasn't directing it toward a person of color for hateful means.  He was using it as a expletive.   If he used the word "fag" or "cunt" or anything else deemed offensive in this situation, I wouldn't find him homophobic or anti-female either."

This is just some idiot 20somethings gamer who does not understand what he is saying or why it is offensive (unlike insaneai below).  To him it is an expletive like any other insult.  Maybe I am desensitized to it from hearing it and other insults thrown around like water.

Or maybe it is because I spent a good portion of my high school life being call a nigger lover.  Pushed around and punched in the face by fools because I wouldn't denounce my friendship with people of anther race.  To them, I wasn't "white enough".  Their intent and context was pretty clear.  They were racist.  The funny thing is I took that brunt, like you said they were too pussy to say that to anyone of actual color.

This punk kid doesn't deserve my anger for racists.  He doesn't even register.  Is what he said derogatory? Yes.  Am I offended by the word regardless of it's use? Yes.  But is he actually a racist?  Not in the slightest.

Meanwhile real racism is unfortunately alive and well.  Another racist fool tried to run over a crowd again just this weekend:

http://www.wweek.com/news/2017/09/10/police-in-vancouver-arrest-man-for-nearly-running-down-antifa-protesters-with-his-truck/

The fucked up thing is the guy they have in handcuffs looks just like one of the motherfuckers I mainly dealt with 20+ years ago.  I'm happy to say that this is guy is not him, that fucker killed himself long ago because his life went nowhere due to his hate.

Or lets talk about the decommission of DACA, which is completely based of race.  Or the fucking Travel Ban that was freed of it's restrictions yesterday.  That is where the real racism is at, not this idiot of a man-child slinging a word around without meaning.
