You couldn't pay me enough.

Thrill seekers with balls the size of watermelons from around the world headed to China to participate in the annual World Wingsuit Championship, where daredevils jump from cliffs at an altitude of 4,783,000 feet in Zhangjiajie.

I wonder what the life expectancy is of one of these people?  For some reason I don't think they have a seniors category...

Almost five million feet didn't seem wrong to the proofreader?

An altitude of 4,783,000 feet equals about 906 miles.  The space station is at around 250 miles up...so they would be able to wave and snap a pic on their way by:)

On a serious note, while I think this event sounds awesome, it also sounds like you would get more as an observer online vs. being there in person.  The action is happening over such a large area that a lot would be missed.

PokeTheBUnny I'm just surprised that no one was reported dead. It's not uncommon for these guys.

fancylad Yeah, that is surprising considering the amped up circumstances of a competition (aiming for targets to break, trying to out-do everyone else, etc...) on top of the standard hazards of falling at speed and trying to miss the Earth:)
