Three "Blade Runner 2049" Shorts You Need To Watch So The Sequel Makes Sense

Submitted by: rumham 3 weeks ago in Entertainment

Director Dennis Villenueva got a couple of artists together to produce three shorts (the first one is up above, 2036: Nexus Dawn) that delve into key moments that tie the first Blade Runner and Blade Runner 2049 together. Watch them before you see the movie next week.

Here's the second one...  Black Out 2022 (This one's anime.)

And here's the third... 2048: Nowhere to Run

Watch them according to the year shown in the titles, not that hard. I think the first one (the 2022 Anime one) was the last one released?

I have the novel written years ago as a sequel (not by PK Dick of course, he died shortly before the movie's release) but never read it :p

The short novel this is based on (By PK Dick) is really outstanding. About 1/3 of the content of the novel makes it into the movie. Which is good since the rest would take hours to explain on screen... go read it!

Like I said, the movie uses a fraction of the 'stuff' in it. It really is packed with stuff!

I just watched the Final Cut this weekend in preparation for the new one.  If you have not seen the Final Cut yet and you are a fan of Blade Runner, do yourself a favor and give it a spin.

Wish I had watched them in chronological order, instead of the order presented.  They were all good pieces.

I will go to the new blade runner - with mixed expectations.

even the original blade runner was a slow burn for me. it took beyond the first viewing to get the nuances. and as for those who say its too far in the past.. that may be for the best. after watching Twin Peaks the return.. 25 some odd years later. i was nervous and excited but scared, but twin peak the return was nothing what i thought it was going to be but it was fucking mindblowing. so. chill. or just wait for the next avengers movie or batman vs. dracula vs Trump.

rumham first, the batman vs. dracula was a straight to video animated movie in 2005, and it was awesome.

second, the next avengers movie is technically thor: ragnarok, which is directed by taika waititi. taika waititi  co-wrote, co-directed and co-starred in what we do in the shadows with jermaine clement. if you havent seen what we do in the shadows, stop what you are doing and watch it. it is absolutely hysterical. anyways, my point is, i am totally excited about thor: ragnarok. did you see the first trailer? they used the immigrant song! and thor and the hulk are gonna fight, its going to be awesome!
