Copeland talks a big game, but I guess when you hold the world's record for Donkey Kong, you've earned the right.

meh, if it's anything like http://www.donkey-kong.org/ it doesn't seem too difficult.  All you need to do is get to the top level (a few steps away from the ladder leading up to the princess), and then just wait.  Every time a barrel comes your way, jump.  Do that 13,000 times and presto, you're the new world champion, without ever completing level 1.

monkwarrior No, I'm afraid you can't, and the reason is rather boring: each level has a time limit. If you let time expire without completing the level, you lose a life. (While the timer is labeled "Bonus", it actually will kill you.)

Achieving a high score is therefore a function of earning as many points as possible per level, while respecting the timer and not accidentally failing.

ballsrawls Ah awesome, that makes sense!  I never knew that and was half wondering why no one would have done it that way!
I guess that link i sent isn't like the game (or my browser settings are messing it up), because the bonus isn't showing up when i play it there.
