Lawrence O'Donnell Loses It In An Off-Air Meltdown To Top All Meltdowns

Submitted by: kalron27 2 months ago in Funny

Lawrence O'Donnell from MSNBC had a legendary meltdown over technical problems last month, and the video just came out yesterday. Apparently he was upset about random audio feeds in his earpiece, and someone banging a hammer outside of the studio.

And Bill O'Reilly's "WE'LL DO IT LIVE!" for A-B comparison...

Looking at the first one - I would not call that 'legendary', I would call that a poor reaction to ongoing frustration.
Looking at the second one - I'd call that a poor reaction to perhaps a bad day - but not legendary either.
Do we really expect better behavior to coddled, so-called 'talent'?

His manufactured smugness is amazing. He doesn't care a bit about what he is saying, he is just reading the "news" in a way to piss off his viewership. As soon as he is off the air he is only caring about his earpiece. It's amazing.

John Heller I had a speech teacher that made this very clear. On air "talent" has no intelligence or depth beyond the teleprompter. They are skilled at reading someone else's words in a clear and pleasant tone. There is no reason to trust or pay heed to the person who reads a news story to you.

John Heller I agree that it sounds like this guy's show's purpose is to rile up his viewers. I don't watch crap like this. In fact I don't watch cable news at all - it's pure poison. But I don't think he's just reading the teleprompter. He was upset at a couple words that were supposed to be removed but weren't. He's reading the teleprompter, yes, but he is reading something he clearly has put work into. And he has a legitimate beef about his ear piece. No one is supposed to be talking into that when he is talking. Try reading a passage from a book while someone is talking into your ear.

With that click bait headline, and the Facebook comments I read, I was waiting for a meltdown worse than Bill O'Reilly's but was sadly disappointed. I can understand both their anger. It's a high pressure job that just gets worse when you're dealing with incompetence and distractions. Lawrence got angry at the situation but at least he attempted to restrain himself. I used to have a temper. That shaking thing he did was him holding himself back so he wouldn't explode. It was keeping himself in check. Bill was just an angry asshole with zero restraint. Bill still, by a large margin, holds the biggest news freak-out of all time.

trimble You try and do your job of speaking while some idiot is yammering in your ear about something unrelated while someone else is banging a hammer.
No different than someone trying to do their job as a cashier while someone is looking over their shoulder saying random numbers.
You have to concentrate

And Bill's meltdown was far worse.

oobaka I don't care whose was worse, they are all asses to me, you want to have favorites based on party affiliation that's up to you. Don't know if you are into sports but if you want to see a good one here is Chris Berman's, it was epic.

trimble You don't care whose was worse, then in the same sentence falsely blame oobaka's opinion on party affiliation when Bill's freak-out is clearly way more out of control. One person here brought partisan politics into the conversation and it wasn't oobaka.

trimble that doesn’t hold a candle to Lee Elia’s ballistic meltdown after a Chicago Cubs loss 30 years ago.

Lee let loose and took a giant shit on everybody.

woodyville06 That was great. I do cut him some slack though as he was talking about Cubs fans after all.

trimble cubbie fans are a real handful after the word series win.  They have a 100 years of pent up angst to blow off:).
