Group Of Friends Play With A Ouija Board, Something Makes It's Presence Known

Did anyone see that cupboard open on it's own?

Side question: Who's used a Ouija board and what were your results?

There could be a slight lapse in the recording that might account for the cupboard door pausing just a moment and then opening the rest of the way.  Could have open just from some movement around the kitchen.  We have a cupboard door in our own house that does that when someone walks in a certain spot in the kitchen.  To me, this just doesn't seem to be real.  There is no screams or shouts after the object slides (which after an incident like that, I myself would probably utter at least one profanity) and also we can't see if there was someone on the other side of the object pushing it towards the others.  Gonna have to say fake.

There are some words being said by someone RIGHT before the disk thing flies off the table, can anyone make out what is being said?

I played with one, with a group of friends, in college -- I think we were addicted to it because I remember playing it for a week straight. It was creepy, and the cursor thing moved and it spelled out stuff and did what it was supposed to, but who knows if someone was moving it or not. I know I wasn't. I don't think I'd fuck with one now, but I do remember not being very scared -- nothing weird happened, but one of the "spirits" suggested we play the board to the local cemetery a few miles away.

The last ghost I saw was one of my grandmothers sitting in the rocking chair in my kids' room.  I don't really care if she was there for real, I feel better with the idea that my Grandma was watching over the kids at night.

This video could easily have been faked and probably was considering the right edge of the table is excluded from the video and the "planchette" they used could have been rigged to a propulsion device off screen.

skeeter01 while i agree it looks like it could be easily faked, the one thing i find genuine about this are the reactions. look at what daegog said in his second comment on here, "If I was convinced i was living in a haunted house, i would just leave.  No exorcist, no reasoning with the ghost, no trying to drive it away.  I'm out." i dont have any experience with the paranormal myself, but i do know that when someone is genuinely terrified, they dont scream, they simply run with out looking back.

robthelurker That is a good point, and they definitely are convincing in their terror.  But then again, actors know how to act.  Also, did you notice how the girl zipped up her jacket shortly before the event?  I wonder if she did that because she knew she was about to (potentially) get hit by a flying planchette.  I need to watch the video again for other tells, but that one stuck out for me.

I have a few ghost stories myself, but it'll take me all day to write them down.  Suffice it to say that my own experiences, coupled with the experiences of a few people close to me, has me convinced that something like ghosts exist, or I'm crazy.

I used a Ouija board once with a friend.  She and I put our hands on the planchette, asked some general question (e.g., is anyone here), and when the thing started moving, we both took our hands off the planchette and put the board away.  We were both too scared to see what it was going to say.

skeeter01 are you saying you forgot to say goodbye? thats one of the rules, you have to say goodbye, or the entity could remain indefinitely.

robthelurker we didn't keep our hands on the planchette long enough to say goodbye. But, the entity (if it actually was an entity and my friend wasn't just moving it herself) hasn't bothered either of us in the 20+ years it has been since this happened.

my mom screwed around with a ouija board in college, basically the exact same thing happened, a jar of something lifted off a shelf and flew across the room. my mom is rather religious, but she is not the type to believe in ghosts and things like that, she doesnt know what happened, all she knows is that a jar flew across a room on its own.

the end of last year, my brother was working at hmv before it went out of business, they sold cds and dvds, some stuff with music and tv stuff on them like game of thrones mugs and blankets. my brother didnt even know it, but apparently they sold ouija boards. one day, a guy comes in with his son looking to return a oiuja board. the father explained that the mother and son had bought the ouija board as a gift. it wasnt opened, but it had been a couple of weeks so he couldnt get a refund or exchange. so the guy the guy said to my brother, "keep the fucking thing." and took off with his son. my brother asked his manager what he should do with it, it was close to closing so the manager decided to keep it in the office until they decided what to do with it, they were leaning to just slapping a price tag on it and selling it again. so my brother comes home from work, tells me the story about the ouija board, and i think about buying it just so i can throw it in a lake. the next day, my brother goes into work, tells his manager im interested in the ouija board, and the manager stares at my brother for a moment, and says, "its gone." thats all i got. "its gone." i dont know if thats the truth, but thats all my brother will tell me when i bring it up.

My position on ghosts is clear.

If anyone tells me they have seen a ghost, i am doubtful but i try not to dismiss it out of hand.

Should anyone tell me something like, if you go into a certain room or go into a basement, you will see a ghost, then under NO circumstances would i attempt to verify that claim.

Never wanted to see/meet/interact with any ghost/demon/angel/supernatural entity of any kind.

As far as Ouija boards, i have never used them.  I am also incredibly skeptical that hasbro or mattel can mass produce items that allow you to communicate with the dead.

I would probably use one of those for laughs, but there is no way in hell i would touch some old ouija board found in some attic.

daegog I've never believed in ghosts or communicating with the dead.

BUT

some fears are embedded in us at the instinctive level.

The closest I've ever come to seeing a ghost, was when I was on a three week trip visiting relatives in the UK just south of the England/Scotland border.  I went to bed, but was woken up by the sound of someone lightly walking up and down the staircase down the hall.

Eventually, this pissed me off enough I went to go see.  I opened my door without a sound and moved down the hallway (hall night light was on, but otherwise dim) the sound didn't get louder as I got closer to the staircase, but when I got to the top of the stair, the sound just stopped.  I went down, noting that none of the wooden treads creaked.  The main floor hall was empty.  When I got off the stairs, I could clearly hear light footsteps above me on the upper stair treads.  I couldn't see (the stairs are switchback) directly.  As soon as I lifted my foot to go upstairs, the sound stopped. I put my foot down on the hall floor, and nothing.

Now I was a bit spooked (the house was over 700 years old) I went upstairs (no creaking) slowly.  I got tot he top of the stairs and no sound, I walked down to my door and opened it.   I listened for a few seconds, but nothing.  I turned to go into my room and the light footfalls on the stars sounded again, but going down.  Then they ended.  As soon as I walked into my room and closed the door, I could hear footfalls coming up and then down again.  My wife thought I was bananas.

When we met my aunt and uncle at breakfast, I commented on hearing steps on the stairs.  They both looked and me and laughed.

"That was the White Lady.  She paces the stairs.  You might only see her if its been raining continuously for a few days."  My aunt had only seen her once - a glimpse.  My uncle says he once sat on the stairs all night to stop the pacing.  He saw her the next night and decided not to interrupt her walking again.

I asked if the While Lady was a famous ghost.  My aunt just said that lots of places like theirs have a ghost or two - its nothing special.

I didn't hear anything the next night, but we had sunshine most of the day.

punko yea, now im for DAMN sure not visiting people that say they have a haunted house.

If I was convinced i was living in a haunted house, i would just leave.  No exorcist, no reasoning with the ghost, no trying to drive it away.  I'm out.
