Submitted by: daegog 1 month ago in News & Politics

His wife says he should get a second chance, others want him fired. Here's how it all turned out for 20-year-old Tyler Roysdon.

Where's the rest of the story?  This guy was responding to something on facebook but all we get is blurry screen shot of his response.

I say burn the mob, leave this guy alone until you can come up with something real.

insaneai So you basically want to see the dogs he saved and the black people he let die?

daegog Or maybe the context of the posting.

daegog Why did you presume he was talking about black people?  Is that what you think of when you hear or see the word "nigger"?

You may want to look inside a bit deeper if you do make that association.

insaneai Who in the blue fuck is he talking about if not black people?  Please explain this.

insaneai I must ask, are you saying it's acceptable to call Nigerians "nigs" or "niggers" likepeople call Americans, muricans. Pakistanis, pakis. And the Scottish as scots? I wish people didn't take offence so easily but unfortunately the words nigger and paki are racist because of historical events in the eyes of the majority.

Context is key.
If I as a white guy say "What's up Nigger?" to a black guy I don't know I expect to have an issue to deal with.

If I say "What's up Nigger?" to someone I know, I'm likely to get drunk and have a good time.

insaneai Your view of context is pretty fucked up.

If you are in a habit of just saying "what's up nigger" as a greeting of some kind or you see it as a trigger to a good time of drinking and partying, then you quite probably a foul douche.  That is just my view.

daegog to be fair in his defence, when I went to an international school in Malaysia I became friends with a black American guy called Michael. He was shy as fuck because he grew up in a predominantly black community. He ASKED me to say "what's up nigga" when we met in the hall, he said the same and we did a little hand shake. He was homesick and it made him feel more comfortable. Sadly it didn't last long because the guidance counsellor heard and gave me a bollocking.

But they point is, he was fine with it and saw the word as a replacement for brother or friend, not as a racist statement. Had we been older I'm sure I could have said that and gone for a beer with him.

daegog I never told you that you HAVE to think rationally, I merely fostered the idea.

Have a nice life

insaneai what's not real about him posting "that's because one dog is more important than a million niggers"

Why should he be left alone? He can't be trusted to protect a large % of the population. Stop being a (dare I say it) fool.... ;)

layla_wilson "Fool" - Again?  We're getting only a small fraction of the story and that fraction is being sensationalized.

The other thing is all of you getting bent out of shape assume he means black people when he says "niggers".  I wasn't aware that the term nigger applied only to black people now rather than "A stingy person"  or "Grudging and petty" (niggardly) but then you'd have to look in an old printed dictionary to get those definitions.  I realize the term has a racial bias to it as well.  I also realize that various version of "negro / negra / niger / nigra" have evolved to refer to people of African decent, especially "niger" and "negro" (shiny black / black respectively).  You may also be amazed to find out that the term "nigger" and its variant "nigga" are terms of endearment and signify family but not by blood.

So can you tell me the proper context of his commentary?  Will you even try to find the original post to know what he was responding to?

Until then, my life is unchanged.  Even after you provide the full context (if you do) my life will go on only minimally affected; I will be happy to change my opinion when presented with more complete facts.

You can call me a racist all you want, if you choose.  I may fuck your day up when I invite you to a family reunion and you see who is there.

insaneai I'll be honest with you, my reply was with intent to trigger you. Over all I couldent actually care about this guy considering the much worse racists in much higher positions of power.

I'm not triggering you to be a dick, more for the comical factor after our last delightfully polite discussion. Hence why my entire comment was built around the word "fool"

Also, invite me to a family reunion? Please explain, are we long lost relatives? :D

P.s. I didn't call you racist. ;)

1.  I figured the "fool" was intentional.  I enjoyed our last conversation.  Sometimes I do just want to fight; this is not one of those times, I want people to think rather than just react.

2.  You would find the demographic at my family reunion isn't limited to only one or even two "races". We were "mixing blood" before it was acceptable to speak of it let alone do it in public.

3. You didn't call me a racist, that was a preemptive strike.

insaneai this isn't going to do me any favours but my family history is pure white. Until my brother knocked up a Thai chick. I have no problems with mixing ethnicities, I see it as essencial to the progress of the human race. I actually have much respect for family's like yours that mixed blood before it was deemed acceptable, my great aunt (my most respected family elder) died without marrying or having children. She met the love of her life in 1947' an Indian doctor. And the entire family did everything to split them up.(they locked her in the family home when they found out she was going to moveto  India with him)  Not cool. But anyway the wines starting to hit me and I'm ranting do yeh, good chat. Hopefully you don't go off on one on me again, because in all honesty I'm not a horrible person and I didnt mean offence when I first said fool, I just have my own conflicting opinions on certain topics and I'm Scottish so it takes much worse words before I consider it an insult :P

Don't be ashamed of your heritage, there is nothing wrong with it.  Being "pure anything" or mixed with everything, you're still a human.

layla_wilson I grew when you'd beat the shit out of each other on the playground then either shake hands and become friends or just walk away and forget each other exists.

We're good.  Enjoy your wine.

The man has made his personal beliefs and opinions very clear, and my opinion is that he is unequivocally unsuited to work - in any capacity - in the public sector.
I am sure there is a moral turpitude clause - or the like - in his contract. If so, he has, in a most public manner, breached the contract, and he should be fired with prejudice, denied any further benefits and/or insurance coverage.

Moron. Fire his ass. Of course PETA feels the same, but just don't limit to race. They mean it for beliefs/views.

If he was like a brick layer, long haul truck driver or something a bit less critical, sure give him his job back, who cares.

Fireman.. eh.. maybe not.

Yeah...you are fired buddy.  That kind of goes against the concept of a firefighter, someone who is hired to save lives.  So to blatantly state that you would choose to ignore the life of another human, regardless of the content of the actual statement, makes you unqualified for the job.

kalron27 According to the fire department he's on permanent leave and can't be fired by the chief.

normalfreak2 Is that because he was only a volunteer status?  That might be why he can't be officially fired.

I support his right to think and say whatever he likes.
And when you say you are unwilling to do your job I support your employer's right to fire you.

Is what he should do is show everyone how much he loves black people; by sucking off four to five black men.

Dumbass.  Welcome to responsibility of Free Speech.  Please note that you were free to say what you will without government intervention.

Of course, others have freedom of association (and hiring) and choose not to associate (or employ) your dumb, racist ass.

megrendel it might get a little tricky if the fire department is a government-run institution.  However, I agree fully that this idiot has proven that he is unsuited for the position of public trust.

punko I checked, it was a volunteer so local government may not be involved at all. Congress definitely was not.

megrendel hmm volunteer fire departments are still run through a local municipality here.  "government control" preventing speech here implies all levels of government, including municipalities.  But that is here.
