Now these roads would make NASCAR a must see event.

I have cycled down number 5 in Bolivia, the cliffs really are as steep as you might think they are. We were told that if a car was coming up the road we always need to go on the outside of it as we were more "nimble".

Also they are right about the length and the height difference. You start the day on snow covered roads and then sunbath in a river at the other end.

I can't believe the Gotthard Pass is not in this list. In 2014 my boyfriend and I were driving back to our home base in Switzerland from a weekend in Venice when we ran into a traffic jam in front of the tunnel to Switzerland. This was no small traffic jam. The tunnel is 35 miles long and we had been taking side roads well before the entrance to avoid the trafic. We were stuck on the onramp right before the tunnel when we spotted a few cars getting out of line and taking a detour - so we followed. We ended up crossing over the Swiss Alps in a gutless Toyota Note. The pass gains 3,057' in altitude until you finally reach the 6,909' summit. Each turn we would look down at the road way below and freak out. Then look up at the next road above us and freak out. It was terrifyingly awesome.

markust123 Austria and Switzerland have some truly awesome and terrifying drives. I had a similar experience on a little turn off on the Grossglockner Hochalpenstrasse. In comparison Trollstigen was a doddle.

Wow. Would love to do the Atlantic Road in Norway. Good post. But Daegog: You need an avatar, man. Please!

squrlz4ever Speaking of avatars, do you know how I can change mine, squrlz?  I changed the picture in my profile, but it's not changing anywhere else.

cjeffblanchr Hmmm... lemme look into this for a bit. I'll see if I can come up with anything. I'll report back in under 30 mins.

UPDATE
Here are a few tips that may help. (This isn't as comprehensive as I'd like because I haven't actually tried to recreate your issue on the fear that my avatar might get stuck while testing.)

1. First, the obvious. After dragging-and-dropping or selecting your new avatar image, make sure you hit the Save button at the lower-right of the window. The window is very tall and unless you scroll, the Save button may be hidden from view.

2. If the new image isn't saved after hitting the Save button, try again, but change data in one of the text fields as well. It may be that the code isn't recognizing a change has been made if only the graphic image has been modified. Try adding an Age for instance (which you can later delete). Then hit the Save button.

3. Make sure the file isn't too large. Try keeping the file under 500K. If you need help in resizing a file, lemme know and I can resize it for you.

If #1, #2, and #3 aren't helping, then I'm afraid I'm stumped. I'd suggest dropping Sunny a line at that point.

Good luck, Jeff. I hope it works for you.

squrlz4ever Well you make sure you take that GoPro and film the drive for us, cause i wouldn't drive on any of these roads for shit.

As for the avatar, i dunno, kinda like the reason i never got a tattoo, i could never think of one i wouldn't tire of then i would have to change it and ughh.. soo much effort lol.

daegog Oh, c'mon. Takes no more time than it took you to write that last comment. As for the GoPro, it's a deal.
