Torch-Wielding White Supremacists Marched At University Of Virginia Last Night

Submitted by: fancylad 4 days ago in News & Politics

The Washington Post reports that a few hundred white nationalists carrying torches clashed with counter-protesters on the University of Virginia campus last night during the planned "Unite the Right" rally.

As the torch-wielding White nationalists chanted out things like “You will not replace us!," “White lives matter!," "Blood and soil!," among other zingers, counter-protesters shouted "No Trump, no KKK, no fascist USA!"

Naturally, fights broke out, pepper spray was sprayed, cops broke things up and dispersed the crowd. A few people were treated for minor injuries.

The march was met with condemnation by Charlottesville Mayor Mike Signer, who said he was “disgusted” by the “cowardly parade of hatred, bigotry, racism, and intolerance.”

Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe has been equally critical of the rally scheduled for noon on Saturday, urging residents to “stay away” from the event at Emancipation Park over threats from “extremist groups.”

The rally, organized by an alt-right blogger to protest Charlottesville’s decision to remove a statue of Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee, is expected to draw thousands of people, with the National Guard on standby should things spiral out of control.

Also, here are a few videos of last night's rally-riot-whatever you want to call it...

The best thing would have had no opposition show up or film crews and let them yell into the nothingness and show how alone they are.

Draculya I said this on the other thread, and what about the white pop collared shirts and khakis? Privileged Frat Boy comes to mind.

kalron27 you know what will probably happen within 5-10 years? You'll be able to pattern match a photograph and use face recognition to search online video. The Tiki Bois video will pop up when they apply for a future job.

elgabalo I know the look they were going for, but it kind of worked out "lynch mob lite". What next, big pewter salad forks instead of pitchforks?

daegog Is this for real, after seeing the other pics I'd believe it.  Such a waist of brain power to think this way, such silly hate.

This is what happens  when you keep the statues of enemies that lost.  They should have never been allowed to be put up.  They were traitor's that lost.  They deserve to be remembered only in historical reference not immortalized.  Could you imagine if Germany had Adolf/Nazi propaganda memorialized in the public?  The Answer is NO of course not.  This is no different.  The Confederate flag should never be allowed to be publicly flown.  It's the traitor's flag and traitor's deserve their just punishment.

normalfreak2 So the south are like Nazis? That seems a little over the top.

johncourage no, the South is not at all like the Nazis. The Germans thoroughly learned their lesson and remade themselves into a force for good and equality in the world. No, the South are more like the Japanese who retracted their apology on the basis of "That was normal behavior back in the day" and are increasingly flying the Rising Sun to show how they want to Make Japan Great Again.

Draculya The south is the least racist part of the US. This is a fact backed up by millions of observers throughout the entire nation.

johncourage Insert any losing force that was taken over.  Do you think any society let's their enemies become immortalized or stricken from history?  They wipe everything out.

normalfreak2 The south are your enemy? I don't know if you know it or not but the civil war was fought a long time ago.

johncourage I did not call the "south" the enemy. The Confederates and anyone that supports them are.

johncourage Doesn't matter, it's clear based on the people coming out to defend them, they aren't a good idea and should never have been allowed to be put up.

normalfreak2 A small group of people travelled from all over the country for that protest. And that protest is less about a statue of Robert E Lee, a man that said "slavery as an institution, is a moral & political evil in any Country" and more about the constant racist accusations of "white privilege".

johncourage The Nazis regime lasted what?  From 33 to 45?

The Southerns kept the slave trade from early 1600 to mid late 1800s.

Where do reckon the most atrocities occurred?  In 12 years or in 200+ years?
Which is not to say the Nazi's wouldn't have caught up if they had time, but they didn't.

normalfreak2 The Germans are apparently more mature than many southern Americans.  They can appreciate that they were on the wrong side of history and are trying to rectify that.  Sooo many Southern Americans like to pretend the Civil War wasn't about slavery.

monkwarrior you and I disagree on religion, but you are a patriot at heart. Can you see how Trump's careful failure to condemn these people and their actions is part of the problem? Trump is either on their side, or he recognises many of his core support is on their side and cannot bring himself to act.

monkwarrior MAGA is inherently a regressive statement. The problem is many of your countrymen consider the nation's greatest moment when blacks "knew their place".

Draculya to be honest the current matters of governance aren't really worth talking about, since the reality is staring everyone in the face: it needs an overhaul for the information age because the business age ways have worn its effectiveness. Now there needs to be a separation of business and state, since it's so intertwined and bringing corruption among governance.

But business and the greed behind it for money and power (using governance) is too content, and won't want to let go, so will either crash, or by some stroke of chance, the people will rise up and take back the reigns.  It's a tossup at this point, and the only question is for how long.

AgamemnonTheGreat ahaha take a hike you troll fancylad owns the site so he can do whatever he wants, and he's already done enough, more than enough, to serve the I-A-B community. Those who know will completely disagree with you, and also advise there are many other sites you can visit if you don't like it here.  I suggest CNN.com since it seems right up your alley (based on what i've heard).

fancylad i maintain that you are doing a good job with the site, 'fake news' (others declaration) or not.  Don't let that troll intimidate you.  If people like the above get a little upset at what they think is fake news, all the less boring it will be!

monkwarrior youngster, I've never treated you with anything but respect, even in my admonitions of your behavior in the recent past. I'd say you're out of line, but you're holding true to the tone for which you're most known. As such, I have to acknowledge this not as the response I'd hoped for, but the best response I'm likely to get here. Label me a troll as you will, I don't hold it against you nor your preconceptions. Take care, and try to remember that even in interactions like this, you're still a representative of your proclaimed faith. It deserves your best, does it not?

monkwarrior so you say. I say that demanding the enforcement of what's written, equal enforcement of censorship, and responses when they're promised (especially after waiting a month to hear back) is basic customer service. I see that you and I approach it differently, but I stand resolute sir. Fancy needs to answer up.
