Arnold Schwarzenegger Tells Trump What He Should Have Said After Charlottesville

Submitted by: normalfreak2 3 months ago in News & Politics

In a video posted today on ATTN's Facebook page, the former Republican governor of California offers a pointed suggestion for what Trump should have said instead.

"The only way to beat the loud and angry voices of hate is to meet them with louder and more reasonable voices. And that includes you, President Trump," Schwarzenegger says in the video posted above.

"Your heroes are losers and they lived out the rest of their lives in shame"... ouch.

Great message, Mr Schwarzenegger. Too many cuts though.

Where are all of the sympathizers to trash this thread?

See, it's not that hard to denounce these groups of hate, all it takes is some words of compassion and have conviction in knowing what is right and just.

Everyone, especially The President of the Fucking United States, should show just as much conviction against such hate.

ridiculous, telling him be specific and dislike something they don't like, that the media tells them they should speak against.  Pay no heed that he said there was violence on both sides and dislikes violence, just focus on what the media wants to hear.  Poor arnie wound up in western media delusions

monkwarrior Yes, telling Trump to specifically condemn hate groups when those same hate groups are gaining more and more power in this country is ridiculous! He should concentrate on the important things, like specifically mentioning his winery in Virginia!!!

bliznik the point was that he mentioned there was violence on both sides, and there was.  By pointing that one side is worse than the other it is saying that the others violence is acceptable.

Hmm, that's an interesting argument.

So on one side, by saying "there was violence on both sides" makes it seem to me like you're arguing that both were equally violent and excuses violent behavior by arguing, "everybody does it."

On the other side by saying "one side's violence was worse than the other" makes it seem to you like I'm arguing that it's acceptable to be violent so long as the actor is less violent than the most violent entity.

At the end of the day, I value prioritization to be the most effective. Of course I condemn all hate groups and all violent actors, but to be the most effective we should concentrate first and foremost on the most hateful and violent, and work our way down from there. If one person uses a gun to kill people and another person uses a knife to kill people, of course I want both people stopped, but first I'm going to stop the one with the gun. If one person is physically abusive and the other is verbally abusive, of course I want both people to stop being abusive, but first I'm going to stop the person being physically abusive. If you try to stop all evils in the world at once, you end up stopping none of them.

bliznik  i agree on your point about the violence, but arnie isn't doing this to make both sides stop, just one specific side, and therein lies the problem.

knewbslayer i'm against violence, and it happened on both sides, so singling out one side over the other is kind of lame TBH.

holygod I agree this was awesome. But I don't think Arnold should ever use the word "tumor" when he's trying to make a serious statement.

normalfreak2 Yeah, Arnold is one smart man.  Hell, if you have never read his The Encyclopedia of A Bodybuilder, there is some serious organization to thought going on.  And it has some very useful exercises for everyone regardless of if you are trying to be a bodybuilder.
