You Cannot Be A Feminist And Pro-Palestinian At The Same Time

Submitted by: 5cats 1 year ago in News & Politics

A huge UN study has looked closely at 'Masculinity' in various Muslim nations, including Palestine. I'm presuming that means all Palestinians living in Gaza, West Bank, Israel, Jordan (although it is not listed as a studied nation) and elsewhere.

I do hope the IAB Liberals will agree that the UN is not part of a 'vast right-wing conspiracy' nor is it 'Islamophobic' in any way. The study also includes data gathered from women there, not just men.

This article goes into what affects feminist beliefs, examines just how contrary Palestinian culture is to core feminist values. There is no 'equality' except that allowed by the Koran (ie: very little). Like most (not all) Muslim nations? Women are decidedly second class citizens in Palestine. They hold some very hard-core beliefs that are decidedly anti-women.

So when Western 'feminists' (and various gay groups too) back things like 'Free Palestine' and BDS against Israel? They are literally supporting their own worst enemies. Just think about what that means.

TL;DR? Here's a 'executive summary' for you.

I want people to have equality- Palestinians of either sex have a bum deal, women get it worse. I am anti- ZIONIST because Palestinians deserve a safe home, and along with that I want women to be equal. Its worth pointing out that in very many places while women have very few public rights, they absolutely rule supreme in the home, i'm not applauding that as I think freedom to choose how you live is really important, and free choice is hard to unpick at times. Palestinians do not have that freedom...

madduck Jordan, they are the majority there. That is their homeland.
Gaza, they make up 99+ % of the population there under their chosen leadership: Hamas.
They have 2 homelands already.
They have more freedoms and safety inside Israel than in those places, that's for sure. But they are free to leave Israel, if they don't like it, no one will stop them.
I don't see how destroying Israel and evicting all the Jews will improve the situation at all...

5cats - where the HELL do you get your information? I have a friend, he visits Palestine every year or so,  he is familiar with the plight of many Palestinians and it really is dire.

madduck This is specifically about their religious and cultural treatment of women. That's by their Government, police, men AND other women there. Specific. Western Feminists who support 'Palestinians' by attacking Israel are thus supporting this demeaning treatment of women and their denial of basic human rights. First reform the 'Palestinians' culture THEN worry about Israel.

Their situation is brought upon themselves. Perhaps if they spent less money building rockets and terror tunnels? They'd be better off.

What information are you questioning? Those are all easy to find facts.

"Just think about what that means."

It means ideologies make people blind to the truth. If you think that this only applies to the left then you are just as blind.

I don't want to wade into this sewage, but . . .

I'm pro choice and anti death penalty.

I wish all handguns were illegal, but I have no issues with folks hunting (just not with handguns).

I fully support space programs and I firmly believe that humans are negatively affecting the Earth on many, many levels including our climate.

I believe first-past-the-post voting system in use almost everywhere in North America should go away.  I believe that private voter contributions to political campaigns should not have tax credits and that the amount per voter should be capped and tracked.  I firmly believe that corporations should not be able to contribute to political campaigns, nor unions, nor any other entity other than individual voters that must register to vote, and must record a vote to have their contribution permitted.

I believe that jurors should not be selected from the general population, but selected from an educated pool of professional paid jurors.

I believe that politicians in office should be banned from fund raising while in office.

Let's face it.  Every friggin' circle you want to sort folks into overlaps with another friggin' circle for some folks.

NOTHING IN THIS WORLD IS BLACK OR WHITE, particularly anything having to do with humans.

I believe in stuff that many others believe.  However, I believe things that those same folks would consider bat-shit crazy.

As soon as you decide I belong in group A, I can find something that proves I should be in group B.

You cannot assume that everyone who, for one reason or another, associates with a particular group on a particular issue, is 100% behind every "core tenant" or "policy position" on everything.

And, of course, I've got to pull these out:

1)  Smarties are better than M&M's
2)  M&M's are better than Reece's Pieces.

For Burger Chains in Canada:

A&W has the best hamburger
McDonalds has the best Fries
Burger King has the best shakes
Harvey's has the best onion rings

and to top it off,

ALL GENERALIZATIONS ARE WRONG - INCLUDING THIS ONE

That's the problem with the social justice Warrior communities. They're so intolerant they hate other sjws.

dm2754 I have a happy feeling whenever the SJWs start attacking each other :-)

Forcing women to marry a man that rapes her (supported by over 50% of the Palestinians surveyed, both males and females) is A-OK! But "manspreading" is a serious threat to womanhood and needs laws to prevent it! :-/

5cats My favorite ever was when the Native Americans wanted to go whaling as a part of their cultural heritage and to, you know, feed their families. The anti-whaling people showed up...

There were so many awkward moments from the media not knowing who to support.

toetagmodel2 Exactly!
Except when this happens in my neighborhood (Manitoba) the far-north natives (Inuit) are not SJWs at all. Central and southern Natives? That's another story... then there's 'Metis'...
So then it's just another case of SJWs opposing their culture and  ancient traditions while being idiots. Whales play an essential role in the ecosystem of the far north for humans and animals alike.

But I totally agree with your point! Many Natives are just SJWs with a tomahawk to grind instead of an axe :-)

Off Topic:
Indians from India are called 'East Indians' yes?
Indians from the Carribian (the 'West Indies') are called 'West Indians' too, right?
WHY aren't North American Indians called... 'North Indians'?

Wouldn't that make 100% sense??

I'm pro-Palestine, the other option is be pro-Israel and yeh... fuck that. They are a hell of a lot worse than the Palestinians IMO.

(note when i say Israel i don't mean necessarily mean Jews)

layla_wilson I think the point of this post was to examine the logical conclusions of being so "pro-Palestine." This post argues that Israel has a better record on women's rights within its own culture when compared to the Palestinian culture.

That is not to say that you have to agree with everything Israeli's have done, but an outright condemnation of all Israeli views when compared to Palestinian views seems incongruous.

It seems sensible to be able to break down your judgments by issue rather than make sweeping generalizations like your statement above.

layla_wilson So you hate all the Christians, Muslims, Atheists and all the cultures of Israel equally then? Not 'just hate the Jews' eh?
Just wondering...

My favorite feminazi moments include having Sharia-law-pushing Linda Sarsour as a speaker for a "women's pussy hat march" LMFAO, screeching about "manspreading" when little girls in THIS COUNTRY are having their genitals mutilated so they wont feel any pleasure.  They've' been DEAD SILENT on that issue alone.  why?

The modern variant of feminism is the most asinine thing I've ever seen. It's amazing how people get attracted to an ideology that is devoid of any logic or reason. Of course it doesn't help when universities are offering useless courses like gender studies.

normalfreak2 But being anti-death penalty and pro-abortion (on demand) is perfectly Liberal Logical!

Detah penalty is for pre-meditated, first degree murder. Abortion kills a baby.
Please explain exactly how a baby and a murderer are the exact same thing.
Or fuck off, Mr. "Let's Change The Subject Because I Know My Side (leftists) Is Dead Wrong"...

normalfreak2 Apples and oranges. Not wanting to kill an unborn baby and wanting to execute someone for committing murder are not even in the same category.

squidbush He is desperately trying to change the subject.
It is what he does every single time he knows he has no defence, he cannot admit his 'enemies' are correct.. He just obstructs and attacks, never discusses. He literally CANNOT HOLD a conversation any longer, just regurgitate DNC Talking points until everyone gets sick of his shit.
Usually I ignore him, but at least he's been (mostly) polite lately.

normalfreak2 No, it is based on the idea that a foetus is alive human being, not a dead thing.
Pro-choice is the lie, it is always about abortion, nothing else.
