It's Official: Trump Is Under Investigation By A Special Counsel For An Impeachable Offense

Submitted by: fancylad 2 weeks ago in News & Politics

Besides celebrating his 71st birthday, Trump also found out that he is officially under investigation for obstruction of justice, an impeachable offense. Oddly enough, Trump was never under investigation about anything, as we found out when ex-FBI Director James Comey testified on his own last Friday (IAB posted about it here.)

The Washington Post calls this a "major turning point" in the FBI's investigation of Russia’s alleged meddling in the 2016 presidential election. Special counsel Robert Mueller is in charge of the investigation.

Of course it didn't help when Don Jr. accidentally confirmed Comey's testimony against dad. After all, Trump was never under investigation for possible ties to Russia -- that is until he fired Comey. That was enough to investigate him on the grounds of obstruction of justice.

The 36 percent of Americans who currently back Trump will no longer be able to use the "He's not under investigation" response anymore.

Pence calls hiring of counsel 'routine

Sure, when was the last time a Vice President hired a private counsel with regards to Obstruction of Justice proceedings?  Gore didn't even do that when Clinton was investigated from what I can find.

5cats Am I the only one who recalls this tool expressing outrage that Colbert would make such a crass joke? It is pretty obvious that most here know you are an intolerant ass but will you ever catch on? You should have just said Gore was too busy playing chess.

wolladude Right, being subjected to gay sex, usually willingly (as a kinky thing) but also not depending on circumstances (like prison for example).
http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=cock%20holster

But the whole thing falls apart if "gayness" isn't insulting, which is the message Colbert is sending. He is intending to insult Drumpf by suggesting (associating him with) he's gay. Since both are men, right?
If he said they were playing chess or something? It wouldn't be an insult:

"Drumpf is a chessplayer! He plays chess for fun with Putin!" See?

Thus I call it "homosmack" and if a right winger had said these words about Obama? He'd literally be crucified by the very people who now defend Colbert... THAT is the issue.

schrodinger Huh? You ignore the actual issue (even though you quoted it) entirely? You bitch that I used harsh language about Gore?

So what? Am I a professional entertainer being viewed by thousands on TV (his ratings suck worse than Monica) who isn't supposed to use certain words? No, I am a cat on a chat board and can say whatever the fuck I like :p Well almost!!
Anyhow: I can say Al Gore sucked Bills dick and I'm 90% sure that happened more than once ok? Since Tipper was already sleeping with Hillary, they both have 'Lavender Marriages' eh? How else did Gore get the VP nomination? He sucked his way to the top! :-)

this is hysterical. The President is an idiot. Idiots defend him. his math skills are absent "Just a 2 trillion dollar mistake, no big deal".he has no grasp of the idea of just how much more the world HATES America with it's new clown leader. He does play more golf than Obama, though, you gotta give him that.

zeegrr :" the world HATES America", luckily not so much but we are, let's say, dubious about your current administration. I've travelled a fair bit and generally people everywhere like AMERICANS (I'm including a few muslim countries).

BUT...the Trump effect helped get Macron elected and helped give Theresa May a well deserved kicking last week, so it's not all bad.

We've all been through worse shit before, and if we stick together we'll make it.

I think what a lot of people are missing here is it should be US against THEM.  Not so much D vs. R.  Now I'm all for whacking pee pee's of ANY politician for getting cozy off the record with the Vlad squad but let's not pretend for a moment that in could only be a Republican.

dromed agreed.  The ONLY reason this is even an issue is because Trump can't tell the truth.  That's it.  I'm sick of blaming the media for doing their job.  Trump lies, get's caught lying, then when reported on his lying, Trump calls it fake news.  This whole subject matter is all self inflected crap.

megrendel I'm concerned that you find this a "dead horse topic".

Listen This didn't have to happen. This is ALL Trump's fault honestly.

1) The Letter from Rosenstein/Session says the reason Comey was fired was due to Comey's conduct on Hillary's e-mails.  Do you buy that?   2 days later when talking to Lester Holt Trump contradicts that letter and that reason.  Did you not see this interview?  Please explain this away or state this isn't Trump's own fault.

2)Trump's a proven liar, or someone that has been proven to spew bullshit how can you pin this on the "liberal media beating a dead horse"  All of this is SELF INFLICTED.

3) The notes from the meeting with the Russian's state Trump stated Comey was a nutjob and relieved a lot of pressure.  because these notes are LEGITIMATE notes and haven't been denied by ANYONE at the Whitehouse.  Since the notes are factually known and are factual once again, this contradicts Trump's own statements and reasoning AGAIN.  https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/national-security/special-counsel-is-investigating-trump-for-possible-obstruction-of-justice/2017/06/14/9ce02506-5131-11e7-b064-828ba60fbb98_story.html?hpid=hp_hp-banner-low_trumpmueller625pm%3Ahomepage%2Fstory&utm_term=.6c558507f561

Once again stop blaming the Media for doing their fucking job.  Blame the IDIOT who's leaving all these doors open for this type of speculation to even be possible.

normalfreak2 This is ALL Trump's fault honestly.

Of course it's Trumps fault.  After all, he 'stole' the election from the rightful owner, did he not? Anything that happens to him is he fault because he interrupted the coronation.

I find it funny as hell (and hypocritical, too) that all liberals wanted Comey fired, right up until Trump actually did it.

Blame the media for doing their job?
  • MSM claims Russia hacked the election. No Proof.
  • MSM claims Trump under FBI investigation. No Proof and turned out false.
  • Time reported that Trump had removed the MLK bust from the White House. Turned out to be a lie.
  • MSM reported a woman had died waiting for approval to fly home under Trumps travel ban.  As she actually died the week BEFORE the ban took effect.
  • New York Times stated "Trump Campaign Aides Had Repeated Contacts With Russian Intelligence."  Again, no evidence.
  • MSM reported that US Olympian Ibtihaj Muhammad was detained by customs agents due to Trumps Travel Ban.  Except the incident happened under the previous administration.

I don't know what job they are doing, but it sure a hell is not 'fair and balanced reporting'.

megrendel No where in your rant did you refute any of the points I made.  You can seriously look at the points I raised as a rational person and not come away with "wait a second" if no crime was committed why is he lying about this?  Trump is opening all these doors...there's no one else to blame for these investigations.......

Trump should have come out and said you damn right I fired him for being a nutjob.  I'm trying to "MAKE AMERICAN GREAT AGAIN" and he's making it impossible with all of these endless, baseless accusations, instead, he keeps opening his mouth and contradicting everything.  That's the problem!  I hate you for making me defend Trump!

normalfreak2 I refuted your point that the media 'was doing their fucking job'.

1) Yes, his conduct on Hillary's e-mails was atrocious from either side.  The left thinks he should have dropped the entire thing. The right thinks he should have pressed charges as she was obviously guilty.

2) 'Proven liar'? I don't think anyone in politics passes that test.  But which lies, exactly pertain to this?

3) So he called him a nutjob. Turning out to be a fair assessment.

But, since the Director of the FBI serves at the pleasure of the President, he can be removed for any reason, or for no reason at all.

I think both sides can agree he pretty much sucked at his job. If he had been competent at his job then Hillary would be facing charges.

1) Yes, his conduct on Hillary's e-mails was atrocious from either side.  The left thinks he should have dropped the entire thing. The right thinks he should have pressed charges as she was obviously guilty.

Uhh wait a damn minute here.  "The Left thinks" WRONG.   DEMOCRATS.  Left =/= Democrats. I stated based on how Comey described the events thought she was going to be charged.  I think at the very least her issues were FOIA related.

What is precluding Trump from seeking to charge her?  I think he has the power to tell his Justice Department to do what he wants no?

2) 'Proven liar'? I don't think anyone in politics passes that test.  But which lies, exactly pertain to this?

Trump's letter stating why he fired Comey, stated that with the counsel of Rosenburg and Jeff Sessions due to the conduct of the Hillary investigation he's firing Comey.  That's bullshit.  He refuted it 2 days later in the interview with Lester Holt.  he flat out changed his story in that interview.  Did you seriously miss this?

3) So he called him a nutjob. Turning out to be a fair assessment.

But, since the Director of the FBI serves at the pleasure of the President, he can be removed for any reason, or for no reason at all.

Nothing wrong with calling him that but his initial statement was he fired him due to his poor job with the Hillary e-mails 9 months ago....What has changed in the last 11 months, if this was a dealbreaker you would think he would have FIRED HIM IMMEDIATELY, why wait 6 months before acting?  Also The interview with Lester Holt where Trump stated it was due to pressure, or the same thing he told the Russians?  Are you seriously this blind?

Listen I don't know if he's guilty, but he's given enough evidence to suggest that he MAY be hiding something.  if he seriously did nothing wrong why isn't he just "telling it like it is" I thought that's what Trump supporters liked about it.  he's sending mixed messages.  Have I cleared this up for you?

So the Washington Post does a story quoting anonymous sources, and he's "officially" under investigation? Until the investigating agency announces or indites him, he ain't under nothing. Like or hate him, that's how thing work in the real world.

scheckydamon Remember when anonymous sources claimed that Trump leaked classified information to the Russians? Fake news, except it turned out to be true.

Remember when anonymous sources claimed Comey had memos of his conversations with Trump? Fake news, except it turned out to be true.

Remember when the Senate unanimously passed legislation to push more sanctions against Russia, and they even went as far as to not allow Trump to drop those sanctions?

Pretty soon, we'll get official reports that this is true, and once Trump's poll number get into the 20s, we'll get impeachment trials going.

Let me see if I've got this straight (but first, let me say I hate Trump).  He wasn't under investigation by the FBI at the time he fired Comey.  He knew he wasn't under investigation at the time he fired Comey. I don't see the justice he's obstructing.

ricks Trump is an idiot. His campaign was being investigated for collusion with Russia. Trump tried to kill that investigation by firing Comey.

He made the situation worse for himself. He's stupid.

Well  first this is not official as far as I can tell its only reported by  five people "speaking on the condition of anonymity" and the fact that both Coats (National Intell) and Mike Rogers of the NSA ( both in the article to be questioned) have both just told the Senate investigation that they never felt pressured By Trump to cover up the Russian investigation.  So the questioning if it really takes place may be something completely different.

This is nonsense.  You could show videos of Trump pissing in children's mouths and absolutely nothing would happen.  You could show him grabbing the genitals of mentally impaired women and nothing would happen.  He could wipe his ass with the REAL COPY of the declaration of independence and still nothing.

There is no conceivable way the republican goon squad in congress would ever impeach trump.

squrlz4ever BTW I had a cute squirrel encounter a few days ago. It was chilly that morning so I was standing at the storm door with my tentacles splayed on the glass watching a squirrel. He saw me and climbed upon my porch railing and ran over to the door to get a look at me. We stared at each other a few seconds then he reached up his paw and placed it on the glass where mine was (Spock / Kirk WoK style) then he ran off to my feeder. There is never a go pro or an Iphone handy when you need one.

trimble This was in my neighborhood and was going slow enough to stop. I realize SOME squirrels are not exactly bright (present company excepted squrlz) so they tend to dart in several different directions when face by an oncoming big black truck.

But then, I'm the type that stops and helps turtles across the road, too.

Male 1,078
megrendel Both. Something to think about before moving that turtle, though. They tend to get turned around and confused while trying to cross busy roads, so the direction it is facing when you find it may not be the direction it actually wants to go. Often when well-meaning people help a turtle cross the road, they actually put the turtle back where it started, and it will start back across the road again, and face the same gauntlet a second time. I know you mean well, but its a crap-shoot as to weather or not you actually helped the turtle, or exposed it to greater harm in the long run.
