Trump Is Expected To Pull Out Of The Paris Climate Agreement

Submitted by: fancylad 11 months ago in News & Politics Science

Trump said he was going to take time to think about the Paris Climate Agreement last week, and we're getting closer to his definitive answer on the matter. Although CNN is reporting that two senior US officials say that Trump is expected to withdraw from the Paris agreement.

A major break from international partners that would isolate the United States in global efforts to curb global warming. Trump's pending decision is being taken as a slap in the face to US Allies and scientists all over the world who have issued appeals on the matter.

This is not news though, pulling out of the Climate Agreement was part of Trump's campaign promise, "We will cancel this deal so that our companies can compete."

Big Business. That's what the party is all about. Can the Affordable Care Act because that's just helpful for the actual people. Can the Climate Agreement to help Big Business prosper. Support Big Business but fuck the actual Americans. Fuck you, Trump! Asshole.

"The New York billionaire is applying for permission to erect a coastal protection works to prevent erosion at his seaside golf resort, Trump International Golf Links & Hotel Ireland, in County Clare.

A permit application for the wall, filed by Trump International Golf Links Ireland and reviewed by POLITICO, explicitly cites global warming and its consequences — increased erosion due to rising sea levels and extreme weather this century — as a chief justification for building the structure."

Good luck, Florida; he's on your side.

He was going to pull out anyways, After he reversed course on the earlier restrictions imposed by Obama on fossil fuels America could no longer reach the numbers we said we shoot for.

This agreement would screw the US in the tush while China and India do nothing.    The clean energy solution will be discovered quicker by a US with a strong economy.  We're already the worlds peace keeping force and the worlds leading humanitarian resource.  Now we're supposed to foot the bill for the worlds carbon credits too?  I'm all for a clean energy solution but not because I think the sky is falling.  I just think it will bring more prosperity to more people and alleviate much suffering.

If the Trump clan had invested heavily into renewable energy sources, i'm betting we would hear a different tale about how important alternative energy sources are.

However, someone owns a lotta stock in oil and coal so here we are.

After today, I doubt Trump will "pull out" (hehehe) of the Paris Deal.

The Lobbyists have spoken, Trump...or more importantly Rex Tillerson...will fold on yet another Campaign Promise.  They will sign because those with the money say so.

I disagree that we get the leaders we deserve - if you mean by the vote. Votes don't matter.

About time! Useless accord only caused harm, not one good thing came from it.
Bankrupt the West, but allow China and India to increase CO2 emissions 300% and face zero consequences? That's the AGW Alarmist 'solution'?? They are #1 and #3 in all forms of pollution, and they can just double and redouble (that's adding +300%) it? Scot free?

And I was pondering:
they want us to go back to 1996 (iirc) levels of CO2 emissions... wasn't that the height of "accelerated warming"?? Why not go back to 1970 emissions, which was followed by a cooling trend??
Please explain how cutting 'global emissions' by 6% (or whatever) to those former levels will lower CO2 which was already rising at that level, allegedly faster than in all of history.

(I have an answer I suspect is correct, but lets see if one IAB AGW supporter can hold a civil conversation on a simple, easy to define topic, ok?)

5cats I pick up litter in the local park almost every day.  Obviously some of my neighbors leave their trash in the park almost every day.  Does that mean I should start littering too, since I know my neighbors do?  Or do  I just keep picking up trash and have a more pleasant park for everyone?

muert Should you spend 40 hours a week picking up trash, unpaid, while your neighbors continue to throw trash out at an ever increasing rate, without penalty?
Should you pay from your own pocket to have the trash removed, while they keep doubling the trash they dump?
Or should you and your neighbors all live by the same set of rules?
Simple really.
And doesn't address the question I asked, but thank you for being polite.

5cats I'll admit that it isn't fair that I spend time picking up other people's garbage.  (not to mention some if it is /really/ gross)  But I can't force other people to not litter.  I consider it worth the effort to not have to walk my dog in a park that is covered in cast off "Polar Pops."  I can either leave things as is and suffer the consequences with everyone else until "they" clean up after themselves, or I can take it upon myself and make the park a better place for everyone.

pleasestop *scanning 5cats post*

Strange, I don't see where he stated that India was backing out of the Paris accord.

Why do you accuse him of lying by stating something he didn't state?

That would make YOU the lying fuck. So, as you so eloquently put it, Fuck off.

Bankrupt the West, but allow China and India to increase CO2 emissions 300% and face zero consequences?

India has committed to ensuring that at least 40% of its electricity will be generated from non-fossil sources by 2030. India is a country currently going through it's own industrial revolution, and are uniquely at a different point in their countries growth than other developed nations. Regardless, for a country with over a billion people, they account for 4.5% of global greenhouse gas emissions.

Want to know which country is one of the largest producers and is looking to leave the Paris accords?

It's impressive that for all the stupid shit that comes out of your mouth, that you recognize the effect that global warming is having on this planet. However, shitting all over the agreement because it doesn't do enough? Would you rather they do nothing instead....

Nope, STILL no statement that India was backing out of the Paris accord. Not even a statement that could infer that India was backing out of the Paris accord.  Nor even a statement that could be misrepresented as that India was backing out of the Paris accord.

So, you're doubling-down on being a lying fuck?  Or are you simply that stupid?

megrendel Correct! And pleasestop is a pathological liar, it seems he cannot tell the difference between truth and lies at all.

India and China will gladly keep an 'agreement' that cripples their rivals and enriches themselves! DUH! If they gave a collective fuck about the environment? They'd have stopped dumping billions of tones of untreated human shit into their sacred fucking river, the Ganges... if they cannot kep the #1 most important thing in all of India clean? Why should we imagine they care about caribou in Nunavut?

pleasestop OMG! They agreed to the Accord because it specifically EXEMPTS THEM from having to lower anything until 2030 (or some fake-ass date).
They have vowed to double and re-double their CO2 emissions by then. After that they promise to not raise them any longer... oh for suuure!
And China has the 'agreement' Obama signed with then for them to raise it unconditionally until 2030 (again, iirc, the exact date is meaningless), so they will double and redouble by then as well! And then they too will simply stop raising it... riiiight!

So SURE they signed the FUCKING USELESS piece of paper! It has NO PENALTIES for refusing to follow it! Why back out? It's a JOKE to them!
You seem to know shit-all about it, so learn something before calling others bad names. Fuckwit.
