Trump Doesn't Want To Talk About His Secret White House "Tapes" He Bragged About Last Week

Submitted by: fancylad 4 months ago in News & Politics

Remember the tweet Trump posted last Friday? The one about his secret tapes...

It might go down in history as the dumbest of all of Trump's tweets -- and he's tweeted some doozys. It was an obvious threat to former FBI Director James Comey. Hours later, the White House did not confirm or deny the existence of the recordings Trump was referring to.

What Trump probably didn't figure was that these secret recordings can be subpoenaed and one can only imagine what might have been said. Trump's calling everyone's bluff -- it'll be interesting to see these "tapes" pay off for him.

If there are tapes subpoena them if he did something wrong then it needs to be addressed. And a proper punishment dealt out.

There has to be severe cognitive dissonance going on with republicans..

How can you call yourself a good person, or even remotely decent, when you actively  strive to remove healthcare from millions of people?

If we have tax money to shoot missiles at Syria, which accomplished ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, then we have to have tax money to get people healthcare.

"This story is false. The president only discussed the common threats that both countries faced," said Dina Powell, deputy national security adviser for strategy.
In addition, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said Trump and Lavrov "did not discuss sources, methods or military operations."
McMaster  (National Security Adviser) said the statements by Powell and Tillerson "should outweigh [the accounts] of anonymous sources [in the Post report].

"I was in the room," McMaster  (National Security Adviser)  concluded. "It didn't happen."

casaledana Not false, Trump admitted to sharing the information.  However, the act of sharing that information isn't Illegal.  It's unethical, and it's sloppy.  You know the same thing you said Hillary should have been sent to jail for?

normalfreak2  not the same thing she (Secretary of State and employee of the President of the United States) let out classified info on a unsecured system repeatedly. Trump (The President of the United States who can legally change the security status of anything at will)  talked to a representative of the Russian government about how to fight ISIS and what they can do to end the strife in Syria. Aside from the fact that there is no proof  that any thing illegal was done.

casaledana You are simplifying it way too much.  How can you blindly believe that Russia wants to help fight ISIS?  The only group fighting ISIS are the KURDS  Of which Russia is non stop bombing because they are the "rebels" to Assad.  Syria only wants to help so he can continue gassing and destroying all the rebels in his country.  Look at the actions of Russian and Syrian leadership, they don't embolden American Ideals in the slightest.  ISIS doesn't have a country, doesn't have a standing army, doesn't have much except one large city.  Putin has killed most of his poltical dissenters,  They get shot in front of the Kremlin from folks carrying assault rifles in a behind a street cleaning truck, they end up poisoned, fall off balconies randomly.  Putin is an Autocrat.  Assad gasses his own people, is executing prisoners by the thousands.  ISIS isn't the only enemy out there  They are playing both sides.  Can you please wake the heck up?

pleasestop  And you know a better one the lol paper that let out classified info on a secret meeting with the Russians. An partner in the fight against terror. Aside from the fact that no one that was there says anything bad was passed. that now may have endangered the partnership with who got us the info.

With giving secret info to the Russians Trump is either a traitor, stupid or mentally compromised or some combination. Take your pick but if you support him after this then you don't give a shit about the United States. OK I guess if you are not from here. This is to big to let go. Any country that cooperates with US intelligence is reevaluating that position now, putting our citizens, soldiers and intelligence people at risk.

An interesting correlation is that Baby boomers make up roughly 30% of the u.s. Population.  This is more evidence for my theory that it is the drug-addled, std ridden brains of baby boomers who have put this country on the course it is currently.  I believe they have brain damage.  I refuse to believe the children of the generation of people who fought and won -- with honor -- WWII are just plain stupid.  There has to be something else going on.

First, let's talk about how stupid the conservative group is.

https://www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/2017/5/15/15640570/trump-comey-russia-republican-voters

"Nearly two-thirds (63 percent) of Republicans still believe the White House’s first rationale for Comey’s firing — that the FBI director was dismissed for poorly handling the investigation into Hillary Clinton emails — according to a recent public poll from NBC and the Wall Street Journal. Overall, 38 percent of Americans still believe Clinton’s emails were behind the firing, according to the poll conducted from May 11 to 13. "

5Cats being one of those.

pleasestop First, let's talk about how stupid the liberal group is:

Nancy Pelosi then - "Comey may not be the right man for the job."
Nancy Pelosi now - "The President’s sudden and brazen firing of the FBI Director raises the ghosts of some of the worst Executive Branch abuses"

Jerry Nadler then - "President Obama should fire FBI Director James Comey."
Jerry Nadler now - "This is about Comey investigating Russia."

Keith Olbermann then - "This man's position at the FBI is no longer tenable."
Keith Olbermann now - "Congratulations Trump, you have just impeached yourself."

The DNC then - Submits resolution blaming James Comey for 2016 loss.
The DNC now - "The firing of FBI Director James Comey is a brazen and disgraceful abuse of power."

Think Progress then - "The case for firing James Comey."
Think Progress now - "Comey asked for more funds to support the FBI’s Russia investigation. Days later, he was fired." (turned out not to be true, btw.)

Maxine Waters then - "The FBI director has no credibility."
Maxine Waters now - "I Don't Support Trump Firing Comey, I Would Support Hillary Clinton Firing Comey."  (damn, not even the attempt a impartiality.)

Bernie Sanders then - “It would not be bad thing for the American people if Comey resigned."
Bernie Sanders now - "Why did President Trump fire Comey?"

Hillary Clinton then - Repeatedly blamed Comey for her embarrassing loss in November.
Hillary Clinton now - "taking him out of his job at this point only reinforces the point that he was on to something."

Chuck Schumer then - "I've lost confidence in the FBI director."
Chuck Schumer then - "If we don't get a special prosecutor, every American will rightfully suspect that the decision to fire Comey was part of a cover-up."

megrendel This one in particular caught my eye.

Think Progress now - "Comey asked for more funds to support the FBI’s Russia investigation. Days later, he was fired." (turned out not to be true, btw.)

Give me your source that refutes that or proves it to not be true, as you claim.

pleasestop The Department of Justice shot down a New York Times report Wednesday claiming days before President Donald Trump made the decision to fire FBI Director James Comey, he asked for increased funding and staff to aid the FBI’s investigation into Russia’s interference in the U.S. election
The Times reported Comey asked Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein last week for a significant bump in both money and personnel, also reporting that U.S. lawmakers were briefed on the request.

Senior DOJ officials told Fox News that story is “entirely false” and the last meeting between Rosenstein and Comey occurred on May 1, where no request for money or resources was made.

Late Wednesday, Fox News confirmed through additional sources outside of the DOJ, that Comey’s request may have been in fact communicated to Senators, not the DOJ. The request was for additional manpower, these sources said.

http://www.foxbusiness.com/politics/2017/05/10/confusion-swirls-over-nyt-report-on-comey-s-request-for-more-resources-in-trump-russia-probe.html

I take that last statement to mean Comey wanted more FBI personnel in general  and not for the Trump investigation particularly.

megrendel Is this some sort of competition to see who wins the stupid award? Because I have more examples of how insanely stupid conservatives are.

"In 2013, when Barack Obama was president, a Washington Post-ABC News poll found that only 22 percent of Republicans supported the U.S. launching missile strikes against Syria in response to Bashar al-Assad using chemical weapons against civilians.

A new Post-ABC poll finds that 86 percent of Republicans support Donald Trump’s decision to launch strikes on Syria for the same reason. Only 11 percent are opposed."

pleasestop Vox... end of story.

What evidence do you have that Comey botching the e-mail investigations ISN'T the reason for the firing? None. Zero.
Not that Trump needs a reason, he can fire him just to put a better guy in. If the new guy gets approved by the Senate (iirc, thought it was Congress before) of course. FBI directors have been fired in the past, so what?

Read the full transcript you idiot. Vox was never the original source. DONALD DUCK's OWN WORDS prove that he was fired for alterior motives.

pleasestop I don't have to prove shit. YOU have to prove this alleged reason is a fact. That NO other reasonable alternatives exist. That Trump intended this to be a threat, and that there is an investigation specifically into Trump's "Russian Connections" which various top officials (and Comey!) have denied exists.

5cats Holy shit.  Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein never recommended that Comey be fired. Trump and his white house staff used him to try to suggest that Comey was fired with reason.

Trump literally says that he's been planning to fire him for some time now in this last interview with Lester Holt.

" The president reiterated his claim that he had been planning to fire Comey even before he received Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein's recommendation to do so.

"He's a showboat, he's grandstander, the FBI has been in turmoil," Trump said of Comey in his wide-ranging interview with Holt. "You know that, I know that. Everybody knows that. You take a look at the FBI a year ago, it was in virtual turmoil, less than a year ago. It hasn't recovered from that."

Except that's not accurate. The FBI loves Comey. Trump literally fired him because he was being investigated. There's no other reason. He's putting out lies to try to cover that fact up. Hell, he praised Comey in October of last year.

pleasestop Correct, he said it was PERFECTLY LEGAL for Trump to fire his ass. Eat it.

There's plenty of "other reasons" you fat liar! And no investigation to be covered up! Haven't you DNC flaks been telling us for months that Trump was NOT under surveillance? ie: being investigated? Which is WHY he would be wiretapped, in case you've forgotten that. First investigation, then Warrant, THEN wiretap. Which you deny... until you claim it's true!

5cats What makes me suspect that that isn't the real reason is that I'd have expected him to can Comey a long time ago for that. Like, maybe, one of his first acts as president. I'd guess that's a big part of what makes so many of us think it has to do with the Russia investigation. Doesn't make it so, of course, but it makes the timing suspect.

broizfam He gave Comey a chance to do his job properly. Is that a crime?
When Comey failed to do his job? He got fired. Like.... everyone else who refuses to do their job!

This makes you suspect some Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy??? Seriously?

Comey then came out and accused Trump of saying shit, and Trump responded with either facts or sarcasm. Too bad! So sad!
