Chelsea Manning Was Just Released From Prison

Submitted by: fancylad 6 months ago in News & Politics

Chelsea Manning, according to The Independant, has been released after serving 7 years of a 35-year sentence for giving classified information to WikiLeaks. Her sentence was commuted by Obama as one of his last acts before leaving his post.

In late January of this year, Trump called Manning an "ungrateful traitor" after Obama's decision, saying she "should never have been released from prison."

It was a bullshit overblown sentence in the first place and quite frankly what she did exposed some horrific shit that would have been hidden otherwise. I agree with her release one hundred percent.

"She downloaded hundreds of thousands of documents from her computer onto a CD marked “Lady Gaga” and took it to the US, where she was to spend a fortnight’s leave..... She then sent the documents to Wikileaks"

She SHOULD have done 7 years time for EACH CLASSIFIED document in that bunch released.  But i guess since she was transgender,  Obama had a thing for her.

spanz  The Whistleblower Protection Act of 1989, Pub.L. 101-12 as amended, is a United States federal law that protects federal whistleblowers who work for the government and report agency misconduct. A federal agency violates the Whistleblower Protection Act if agency authorities take (or threaten to take) retaliatory personnel action against any employee or applicant because of disclosure of information by that employee or applicant. Whistleblowers[1] may file complaints that they believe reasonably evidences a violation of a law, rule or regulation; gross mismanagement; gross waste of funds; an abuse of authority; or a substantial and specific danger to public health or safety.

pleasestop It was not a whistle blower. It was a thief that committed treason by stealing classified documents that upon release directly put people that work for the government in the way of direct physical harm. Any other prevarication that any of you would like to put out there is false and total bullshit. You cannot rename treason and theft.
Ans yest it's an it because it was born with male chromosomes and will die with male chromosomes. Laws of nature are just that, laws. Then again, I wouldn't expect it to abide by laws.

Why not Snowden? That's a little fucked up that Manning gets out and Snowden's still in exile.

wolladude Shouldn't the government be accountable to the people?  When the lawmakers are also the law breakers, they must be held accountable.  Whistle blowers must be protected.
