We Can Impeach Donald Trump At Any Time

Submitted by: kalron27 6 months ago in News & Politics

I was shocked that Congress did what they did to push through Neil Gorsuch, abandoning the Super Majority rule and to force their right's agenda. But this shows that all rules, including the Constitution itself can be thrown out the window nowadays.

Is this really the direction we are going?  Are we just going to watch it all happen from our cellphones and not do anything about it? Probably...

Not that any ideology or party should be a factor but from the Libertarian perspective I could not be happier with this Supreme Court appointment.

trimble Great!  You are happy with a corporate tool that will vote for the company over a person every time.

I am not.  Business will become more important than individual rights.

kalron27 No, I'm happy with a true student and scholar of the US Constitution that knows how to read and interpret it, the importance of the Bill of Rights from 1 through 10 and knows the role of the Supreme Court and his own position. I have no doubt he will uphold and defend the US Constitution. I can only hope for more appointments like his.

But if he got impeached, he'll be replaced by Pence. Not sure we win anything in the deal...

m3dm3d not really, impeachment just means he is charged. even if he is impeached and convicted, it doesn't mean hell lose his office. Clinton was impeached but he stayed/

m3dm3d True...and my actual biggest fear here...Pence was the nominee all along, just couldn't beat Clinton...

He will be impeached or convinced to resign or otherwise neutralized once the Republicans get as much use out of him as they think they can. Until then he will be allowed to get away with anything.

That's all nice information, but americans are too fat and lazy to get off their asses and do something about it. That's how he got in the White House in the first place.

The Constitutional Option (aka Nuclear Option) is also a rule.  Create by (and abuse by) one side more than the other (hint: The Democrats set the precedent).

And yes, I always get my law advise from Cracked.com.

megrendel seeing as 7 out of the 9 elected since 1975 have been Republican nominated and confirmed (half and half for non-confirmed)...I call BULLSHIT on your statement.

...and Cracked.com does their research more than most other new outlets nowadays, I would argue that indefinitely...

kalron27 Yes, the Consitution option was created by the Democrats. It's only been implemented twice, first by the democrats and now by the republicans. But Dems have threatened it much more often.

And, if you do some research that the senate historically has very strict rules for the amount of say so they have over a Supreme Court nominee. It wasn't until Bork in 1987 that Democrats declared the 'right' to filibuster a nominee.
